As was Swiss Re, its the risk developers take, they usually pay off but some dont want to take the risk

I think so, Bishopsgate will actually be right next to Leadenhall, not very far apart at all. |

Leadenhall would need to be moved closer to Bishopsgate Tower, so covering most of SwissRe and uncovering more of Minerva... as the pic shows below.

imagine how epic its gonna feel driving past that, like i was so excited the first time i saw tower 42 and swiss re in real life and they looked huge compared all the buildings around, this is just gonna be incredible to walk past.

Yeah, you can really see the difference in the Bishopsgate tower there, shame we might end up with the dumpier one, like a wizard who ate all the pies. Still a great tower though, i also hope it isn't purple.

I believe the purple tint will be more visible at night, like the blue colour on T42's crown.
What a shame we've ended up with the shortened version. The first proposal really soared! |

It is a bit stupid that they had to shorten it... it's huge already, lopping a bit off doesnt do any good.
But... the building is stunning! I am very excited to see it go up.. bring on the purple i say. |

In my opinion the need to shorten it by 19m or whatever it was, was considerably less important than the asthetic quailties of the city of londons pinnacle, which in many ways is more than just londons symbol of power, but the whole sodding nations, now it just wont look as good, just so there can be a utterly retardedly huge safety margin.
edit: my god that was negative, i love this project really, and its actually my second favourite project, i hope all the previous speculation of this being unlikely to get built is all rubbish, as this is a simply awesome project, and in my opinion, crucial in order to create a balanced skyline.

I don't think people should worry too much about the height reduction. It's still a fucking massive building. It will clearly be the dominant tower in the cluster. It will be visible from all over London. Even by American standards it's pretty tall.

I hate it it's so tacky - it belongs in an up-in-a-rush boom city in china or somewhere - Norman Fosters millenium tower for the SWiss re site should be biult instead of that stupid concoction. It looks outdated to me and fosters tower is the sort of calm imposing design that lasts - and looks impressive and with a highly individual shape, but restrained, this proposal looks a little amateur (if I dont sound like a pratt saying so)

Swiss Re is better, by far than this millenium tower. It also has nothing to do with The Bishopsgate Tower. How its tacky I dont know, you fail to back up your comments with reasons that are even remotely justified. Amateur? I could say the same about your post....

Are there any more major projects such as this one? (I hope!)

But i disagreee JAW... it isnt tacky, it's oozing with detail and quality, innovation. This is potentially too refined for some of the eastern cities. |

My mistake.
Nookie, if you have a little peak in the Main projects and construction bit you'll see that there are several, The Leadenhall building, Heron TOwer to name but a few
