I could be wrong. But I believe it was decided that using High Density Reinforced Concrete would make the building safe from a 9/11 type attack.

Buy using High Density Reinforced Concrete would make the building safe incase Dubai's government decided to make a repeat of 9/11 of what the US's givernment did to itself?

There's a good chance you are wrong, I'm afraid. While BD uses HDRF, it only has enough to support itself plus normal gravity (people, furnishings and equipment on each floor) and wind loads. An airliner flying at or above 600kph subjects a large amount of force onto a small area, destroying anything not built like a bunker. Given the narrow size of BD and its lack of redundancy compared to office buildings, it would not fare very well in an impact. I doubt any skyscraper would.

Fire, at least, wouldn't be as much of a factor.

Wow. I'm not even going to start on this crap again. Go read some books and stop believing crappy, uninformed, irrational documentaries you see on youtube.com

thats pretty good.but i had a qeastion see were the 156 floor starts and the 162 floor ends. i think there should be more floos between.because each floor is around 12 feet high, which is almost 4 meters.so 12 x 6=72 feet. so that's only 22 meters.and subtract 645 -575= 70 meters so it does look like a pretty big gap for only 6 floors.considering 6 floors=only 72 feet. so you can add like 18 floors to equal 216 feet and have 13 feet left. if any body gets what i am saying please say something.

mega- ive amended it. the roof or upper 5 or 6 floors above 156th floor will consist of plant rooms. 1 of these levels which contains LMR is 18m high!
another is 10m high. a couple are 6m high. So not typical 3.8m floors.
so 620m rooftop is probably more like it.

I see it daily and still it seams to me that the central core might have risen by another 2 floors from a week ago.

WOW it starts to look really slim now.And it seems to me that they are working faster than before. But the most unthinkable is that it is still 228m high and it dont reaches a third of its tiotal height! But there are just 41m to build and it is a third tall!

Nicholas, if I had to guess, I would say that steel reinforced concrete was used because it is less elastic and better at resisting compression forces which are an issue in very tall buildings. Imagine how much the building would sway if steel girders were used. Furthermore, bracing steel girders with cross girders to make BD more rigid (e.g. SWFC, Bank of China Hong Kong, Hancock Chicago) isn't really an option on a very narrow, rounded building.

Also, are you saying the US government made radical Muslims fly planes into private AND government buildings while pursuading bin Laden to take credit? Here's a clue from Iraq and New Orleans: George Bush is not that competent. Do you also believe Vladamir Putin was behind the murder of children in Beslan and Jose Aznar bombed commuter trains in Spain so he could be unelected Prime Minister?
