Not necessarily Bertez. That is a very simple way of looking at it.

The lobbies would be different heights and the floorplates may be of different thickness. I don't have a specific answer however..

Also zeeshanney is wanting to confirm his stats.

Labour Minister steps out to join in the midday break

The Labour Ministry has intensified its inspection of construction sites to ensure compliance by companies with the midday break rule in the hot months of July and August.

Labour Minister Dr Ali bin Abdullah Al Kaabi distributed cold beverages to construction workers finishing their morning shift during a visit to the Burj Dubai construction site yesterday in support of the summer working hours awareness campaign.

The minister called the campaign a humanitarian initiative and stressed that it was the small companies that continue to break the rules and negatively affect the reputation of the country.

Dr Al Kaabi said: “This campaign is a humanitarian initiative that was taken by the government. It is a thank you to the labourers for what they have given to the UAE and for helping build it.” The minister handed out cold beverages at the construction site as a show of support for the two-month initiative to prevent labourers from working during the hottest hours of the day.

Decision 410 enforced on July 1 will fine companies that allow work to continue from 12.30pm to 3pm.

Dr Al Kaabi said: “What this country hopes to achieve is to change the idea that human rights are neglected, because these labourers built this city and a lot of the big companies have given a pos itive response and are participating in this campaign.

“We would like to tell the smaller companies to take this as a sign that they will be fined and that they should not cause damage to the reputation of the country.” Dr Al Kaabi also visited the clinic at the Burj Dubai construction site.

He explained that part of the campaign is to ensure that participating companies provide labourers with first-aid at the on-site clinic 24 hours a day, give labourers jackets and safety helmets, and that drinking water is given to them every 40 minutes.

“The small companies who do not implement these measures, place the country and workers in a very difficult position,” said Dr Al Kaabi.

Generally, hotel and apartment floors are almost always built shorter than the floors intended for business offices. Business offices usually contain larger spaces between the walls and so have higher ceilings to keep rooms proportionate and open. Additionally, business floors have commercial uses that require additional ceiling heights and need more space for cabling, access and conduits in the ceiling than private apartments.

Consequently, the SWFC was probably designed with taller floors than the BD, which has hotel and apartment space on the lower half of the building.
