Are u sure about that? It's normal to use protective films on class when something is under cunstruction. Why risk the class cladding, when u can protect it so easily?

If that will be the look of this building, I won't be disappointed. I think it looks nice, all tho it could be more reflective.

@Alweron: I agree but where I live the protection is easily visible (it's easy to forget to remove it otherwise). Other then the washed out look, there is no clear indication of protective film. Odd indeed.

Lol

One Bryant Park is really impressive now. I didn't really get it too well one it was just renderings, but in real life I can see how it fits in well.

The new Verizon still doesn't agree with me but I guess it's popular.

Great shots as always Carlos. Clearly a better day.

More about the facade/glass which is supposed to like a "crystal design"

Quote:
"The transparent faceted surfaces of the building function as a permeable membrane for shifting qualities of perception and light," says Richard Cook, partner at Cook+Fox Architects. "Embodied within this clear glass skin is something organic in nature, something which echoes not only the kinetic movement and energy from the streets below but also the dynamic and crystalline structure of forms encountered in the natural world."

The design for the Bank of America Tower is inspired by the building's unique site within its immediate location and its broader urban context. From the building's base, which accommodates the surrounding complex pedestrian and transit circulation, to the overall massing, continuing up to the tip of the spire, the design responds to the built environment of Midtown Manhattan.

The exterior wall of the tower will be a clear glass curtain-wall to complement the building's faceted crystal design. The building's form is sculpted to provide a south-facing surface to address its prominent relationship to Bryant Park and permit views into and out of the structure.
Keep in mind that the facade is environmentally friendly and serves a purpose:

Quote:
The temperature of Bank of America's tower and the production of some of its energy will be done in a very environment-friendly manner. The insulating glass will bring down the thermal loss which will result in lower energy consumption and increased transparency.
I'm starting to think there is no film, because...

1. It would've been clearer and showed more like Shennbop said, as seen in the blue strips here during Bloomberg Tower's construction:

Credit: Edward at Wired NY

2. They would've been taking off some of it by now I'd assume and we'd see some parts with film and some parts without.

Who knows...I could be wrong but it really does look glossy, faded a bit.

Despite where she's from, I maintain my previous point...lol.

Back on topic, I can't wait for the curtain wall base to come:

Never realized that they were planting trees so close to the lobby (and in it). Of course my question is will they relaly put those trees in or are they in the render for decoration purposes only.
