no he has a point. I love the Manhattan skyline as a whole and looking at it in person makes you dumb struck but if you look at the vast majority of buildings individually they are bland and uninspiring. They all contribute in their own way to the skyline though by showing how skyscraper design has evolved over the years. Most of the worst buildings in my opinion were building in the 60's/70's, but there were some good ones in that era too such as the Citygroup Centre.

if I ever built a tower, I'd make the render look like a 300 m tower,
then Id keep goin past 300, into the 500m range.
Id phase everybody out

You won't be the first one to do something like that.

40 Wall Street (Trump Building) at the corner of Wall and Broad Streets (927 ft/283 m, 72 floors)

and

The Chrysler Building at 405 Lexington Avenue, between 42nd and 43rd Streets, Google (1,046 ft/319 m, 77 floors)

were both completed in 1930.

After an intense competition to become the world's tallest building, the Chrysler deposed The Trump Building from a brief reign as the city's and the world's tallest building when its spire was installed.
