Finish the facade, but let the structure of the top show, and finish the spire, but leave the supporting structure on it. Then remove the cranes. I think it would look just as good without putting glass over the crown. They better do EXACTLY what I say.

Construction Accident Reported in Midtown
By Sewell Chan

A window frame that was being lifted this afternoon from the 25th floor to the 50th floor of the Bank of America Tower at One Bryant Park, which is being built at the northeast corner West 42nd Street and the Avenue of the Americas. The frame struck and pierced a sidewalk shed, and incredibly, one was injured.
BNN, a news service that monitors police, fire and emergency radio transmissions, had initially reported that the crane was lifting some concrete when debris fell and damaged part of a wall. Emergency medical workers were sent to the scene. The Times has sent reporters to the scene; we will update this post as we know more

this tower hardly makes a dent in the New York skyline...
but look how massive it is when I put it into the Memphis skyline...

i tried to get proportions as close as possible. the white building to the left of the bofa is 100 north main, it's 131m

NY Daily News says a construction bucket came off at top way up and fell down the side of the building, shattering windows on several floors. 8 injured with cuts--4 construction workers and 4 pedestrians.

N.Y. crane drops load, injures 7 in Manhattan
Reuters
Published: Wednesday, October 17, 2007

NEW YORK - A crane dropped a container of debris from the 53rd floor of a signature skyscraper under construction a block from Times Square today, injuring seven people, authorities said.

Shattered glass and debris showered down on Sixth Avenue and 43rd Street in one of the busiest areas of Manhattan at about 1 p.m., forcing authorities to close several streets. The container and its contents hit the building several times as it fell.

Richard Kielar, spokesman for Tishman Construction Corp, the construction manager for the Bank of America tower, said four construction workers and three pedestrians were treated for minor injuries.

The falling container bent part of the tower holding up the crane, Kielar said. An engineer would inspect it to ensure the crane was stable, he said, and that Sixth Avenue would likely remain closed during the evening rush hour.

Company executive William Neary, 64, was stopped at a red light outside the building. A piece of debris smashed the glass sunroof on his car and bounced off.

"All the debris started falling down and all I did was say, `Jesus help me,"' he said.

ouch

hey Carlos, can you maybe stop in and snap some pics
