You either stick to the opinion that the spire should or shouldn't be counted no matter where the tower is built and which (American) tower it overtakes!
first off..maybe you're confused. I dont see anyone here trying to say the BofA tower is taller than, say, The Center in Hong Kong. thats just wouldnt be a good observation to make. Counting spires is not a law.

secondly, there's plenty of us americans who know a thing or 2 about architecture..it's the ones that dont who were blaming the Petronas for having a spire. and yes, I can see why you'd be irritated by them.

I dont count BofA as a supertall.
And Petronas is in fact shorter than Sears, based on roof height.

I live and die by roof height so please be more specific as to who you're aiming your rant at.

So whats up with the whole 'so many spires in NY' thing? it just started, and only because two buildings got spires!

So I guess the crane can come down now that everything has been lifted in place already except the glass but I don't think they use the crane for installing the glass. Do they?

They still have to lift the wind turbine, right?

so that could be why the crane is still there.

If I'm correct, BOfA Tower is right in front of ESB.

ESB is blocking it. This is downtown looking uptown so ESB is closer. Also 4 Times Square is just to it's left so it is actually behind it.

My bad. The shot was obviously taken from the Brooklyn Bridge so I thought BOfA wouldn't be obstructed .
