Transamerica Pyramid, San Francisco

As requested, hope you like it.

Now, I could post a simplified version of the diagram where the base is a texture or I could use the one which I used on the picture where de pillars have to be cut out. Just let me know.

-----

Update july 29, 2006:

To get the same scale as STR's and my models, print it at 25%. Use the pictures as a reference. Please report any problems. Good luck!

Instructions:

1. Glue A to B to C to D using the outside flaps of parts C and D. E, F, G and H are flaps. Make a cut in de the middle along the blue line.

2. Fold Part I along the dotted lines and glue flap J to K. Place this part into the opening of the main structure on top and place parts O on top.

3. To enforce the pilars and to make them fatter, cut out parts P and glue them to the back of the pilars of parts A, B, C and D.

4. Glue parts Q to the back of base of parts A, B, C and D using the flaps.

5. Part M is the base of the main structure just above the pillars.

6. Fold and glue part L so it becomes a box. Glue it to Part M and to the base (part N).

7. Glue the lower straight pillars of parts Q to part L.

8. Glue the outer 4 pilars to the base.

Excellent!

The cut-out pillar version would be awesome as a kit. It adds so much depth and realism (a real workout for the old x-acto too), as well as providing a sense of scale to a model.

You models keep getting better and and better (as if it's possible!).

P.S.
I've been a little busy so I haven't gotten around to test-building the Water Tower Place model yet. Hopefully, I'll have some time over the next few weeks...

Superb job, Nightfly!

Definitely, for me, the more detailed version with cutouts...I believe it's very much worth the effort called for to get the right effect.

Again, beautiful job!

Can't wait until you make some of these excellent models available.

Cheers!

Wow, good job! As for the base, leave it how it is. It's much realistic that way IMO.

Just what I was looking for!

Hi Nightfly!

I have been tirelessly searching for models
whether plastic, balsa wood, or paper kits/designs of San Francisco landmarks like the Transamerica Pyramid, Coit Tower, The San Francisco Ferry Building and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Can you or any of your very talented friends help me to find/make the others?

While I don't know that much about architecture, I do have an art background and once I have the pieces, I know I can put them together.

Any help or direction is highly appreciated!
