kcmetro - what are the proposed heights of any semi-tall/tall buildings of the P&L? Is anything confirmed besides the lowrises that are u/c?

Off the top of my head, the hotel/condo will be 37 stories if the hotel portion is signed off on. Otherwise, I believe it will be 27. The other condo towers will be between 15 and 20 stories I think. The condos will be worked in as demand increases. Their spots initially will be for surface parking, but eventually will be built as condos or office perhaps.

There is also another condo tower that is not associated with the district, but right next to it that is under construction. Here's a link.

I will tip my glass back to Kennedy's. RIP. I've had some freaking great times at that place!

I hope no one was seriously injured.

I believe 2 firemen are in serious condition and a few others are hurt.

KC just hasn't had much luck with fires lately huh? We keep getting on Fox and CNN, but for all the wrong reasons.

I hope the report that came out yesterday about the housing market cooling off more than expected doesn't LEAVE these as surface lots.

Although, the P&L got rid of a nice swath of those already.

I still cannot believe Kennedy's....

I hear the glass on the arena should all be in place by the end of March.

Here's the Bartle Hall convention center expansion under construction. It is built over the top of I-670.

Here's a construction cam shot of the Sprint Center. As you can see, the entire north side has the glass panels installed. The roof should be complete very soon too.

People drink bourbon everywhere. The closest thing to a restaurant that would involve a local KC drink would be a Boulevard Brewing restaurant, but I believe there's a law against them doing that (not sure why).

The most obvious local flavor would be a local BBQ joint, but that's not going to happen because the rents are too expensive for Gates, Bryants and other restaurants. So we're getting a Famous Dave's (based in MN). Yippie!!!!

The P&L I believe will be larger than 4th street live. I haven't compared them though, just from what I've heard.

If they don't put an Arthur Bryant's in the P&L (or at LEAST a Gates) then the good people of KC should riot, burn it down, and start over. It would be a travesty to not include at least one of these.

And Famous Dave's? Really?

I guess the P&L will be burnt down then, because there won't be local BBQ there. Good thing there's lots of places located nearby for those who want to sample the local flavor. I've never actually had FD's. Is it any good?

It's been a couple years, but I'd give it a "meh."

I've said it before and I'll say it again - Arthur Bryant's is the best BBQ sauce ever. In the world. It really does suck that neither Gates nor AB's will be there.
