Let me be happy, I have a lifetime of disappointments (no downtown ballpark, no NBA team, etc) and you won't even let me be happy this one time?

The glass on the outside of the Arena is one of the few instances in which I think it looks better in real life than in the renderings!! Absolutely beautiful.

Keep the updates comin'!

It's going to be pretty spectacular when it's all done. I really can't wait.

This new project will bring a tower to the west end of 47th. St. and "enclose"
that side of the Plaza nicely. The bowl effect is almost complete.

It seems like every other week a new project in KC is announced.
4646 Broadway and West Edge are U/C and now two more projects
on the west and east sides of the Plaza are coming to fruition.

The arena is going up faster than anyone thought it would, and they're finally starting to construct the other buildings in the development. Mid to late 2007 still seems like a possibility. Renovations are beginning on the Empire Theatre, and the President Hotel has been open for awhile now.

Another large scale development for south Overland Park. Not sure how I feel about this.

http://kansascity.bizjournals.com/ka...3/daily17.html

The 60-acre development, called Prairiefire at Lionsgate, will include about 345,000 square feet of luxury retail, 295,000 square feet of office space, a 100,000-square-foot hotel and about 700,000 square feet of residential space divided among 330 condo and townhouse units.

I suppose it's preferable to the standard suburban shit they build in Overland Park.

It reminds me of LOTR or something like that.

"Quick Frodo, we must destroy the ring before Sauron's eye turns his gaze to us! To the Prairiefire at Lionsgate!"

Almost 1.5 million square feet of development is good (even if it is OP ) but what a crappy, crappy name. No offense to anyone that lives there.

Ok, no more suburban KC news unless it is really big.

Power & Light Lofts move forward. This project isn't related to the P&L District, but is another project that's been in the works for about 5 years.

I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but here is a video of what the P&L District will be like.
