They're really moving on installing the glass. I drove by it today, the arena looks great.

They're also getting started on the walls of the NABC (National Assoc. of Basketball Coaches) Hall of Fame and museum next to the Sprint Center.

I hope that building next to the arena doesn't block too much of the view of the arena, it is so beautiful.

They've got steel going up on multiple blocks and the Sprint Center has lots of glass panels on it now. Here's some pics that I believe Morty took last week.

I absolutely love the Sprint Arena's facade. I think I read an article online from the KC Star about the glass itself about a week ago. Doesn't each panel weigh about 2 tons? And about 60 panes of it are that off-colored tan glass? Fantastic shit.

Go Missouri! St.louis and Kansas City are turning world class with all
the new stadiums and renovation going on. Defenitely hitting milestones
for progress. Gotta see more pics though. Just can't get enough of
them.

Liberty Memorial, the only national WWI memorial. Reopened two weeks ago. I went back yesterday and it is amazing now, it used to be just two buildings with very little, however now it has 30,000 square feet just below the tower and two museum buildings alone. Plus about 7,000-10,000 square feet in the two top museum buildings.

It's now an amazing memorial that does justice to WWI and the men that served. And it also has the smoking gun relating to America's entry into WWI. If you want to find out the truth about the Lusitania, then visit the memorial...

A local organization called the Urban Society of Kansas City has a website on the web now at http://urbansocietykc.org

They have ambitious plans, including the following:
By 2020, they want:
100,000 new housing units in the urban core
24 hour transit within 5 min walks
1,000 new storefront businesses
95% of vacant land filled in

Streetside trees downtown, making Downtown more pedestrian friendly and the streets less like suburban streets
Streetside angled parking
No one way streets
Elimination of the north and south parts of the highway in the loop, making the northern leg a boulevard and eliminating the southern leg alltogether.

and more is on their website.

Here is the future zoning (according to city hall's website) of the Downtown Loop:
Red represents mixed use
Blue represents retail/commercial (specific and more binding, apparently applies to the hotels)
Grey represents institutional
Green represents park space.

Here's a PDF that was posted on the KC site. It explains plans that the Urban Society of KC has for the downtown area between now and 2020.
