North Bund Tower has been on hold for a long time, most skyscraper fans thought it would never become built, same story as SWFC. However, they started working on that project a couple of months ago and now you have some nice cranes over there The height of the tower has been reduced though, I don't know how much Lujiazui CBD is now complete, there isn't any plot left without its own tower completed or u/c excepting Z3-2 plot. For this reason, North Bund area will start booming soon, you'll see many cranes over there in the coming years.

North Bund Tower plot in June 2006

About Chongqing, I don't know which of the two projects are you talking about so.. Well, as far as I know JW Marriott is rising little by little
May 2006

Chuanjiang Fanying was supposed to be under construction, the project may have been delayed though, you are right.
They had a nice party when works were supposed to start on last november:

There is nothing wrong about being skeptical, just ask and I'll try to answer your doubts with my poor English, lol.

@Effer well, I didn't forget that, that's not a skyscraper... I never include TV towers, etc as skyscrapers, they play in another league.

Great compilation z0rg!! Thanks for your work.

Specially like and surprise with the Greenland Square (450 m) and Twin towers in Guangzhou (431 m), house of one of the best looking skyscraers, the Citic Plaza, with 391 m.

amazing. some were masterpieces. some weren't. The gate one at the end is weird. Dalian World Trade is boring. Wenzhou WTC reminds me of the BOA in Charlotte. China WTC in Beijing looks to me like it looks good in render form but in person it will look horrible. Nanjing IFC from that angle looks like Hong Kong's IFC. Not sold on North Bund yet. need more pics.

JW Marriot IFC in Chongqing looks awesome. That's something I would love to see in NYC. The Feng Long looks cool too. Like a jumbo size cousin of that trademark Nashville tower. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Chang Sha Twins and Ningbo Twins. I really really hope they get built. And ofcourse the jewel, Shanghai World Financial Center. Absolutley jealous she's not over here

China does not seize to astound me! Some of the best designs I've seen.

This is a really good idea for a thread. All these chinese towers and cities can get confusing, so great work keeping the supertalls together in one thread. Some amazing buidings there.

z0rg,
Actually, the plot of North Bund Tower is located on the other side of this street - ie. where the picture is taken from.

No doubt that this tower will get built though - but it doesn't seem that construction has started yet. I walked past the plot yesterday and it seems that there are no cranes there as of yet.

I just wish that the twisting tower (Shanghai Ferry Terminal Tower?) will get built - but I'm pretty sure it won't.
