Great pics. When was the highrise building with the transmitter and satellite dishes on top built? Checked emporis but no info. Thanks.

The building with the transmitter and satellite dishes on top is the Budynek TV building. Both the design and the materials of this building resembles the Palace of Culture in Warsaw (though on a much smaller scale), and I therefore think it must have been built at approximately the same time (1950s). I was unfortunately only one day in Lodz, and there are probably many great buildings I didn't get to see. Lodz has lots of nice old architecture, but most buildings are in desperate need of maintenance. This picture is very typical:

Thanks for info. I also like the long, long main thorofare of Lodz. I bet it's the place to see and be seen!

The main (semi)pedestrian street is definitely the place to be seen, or even better, to sit on a cafe and observe all the people that walk by. Lotz is only an hour away from Warsaw by train, and here are some pictures of the landscape I traveled through to get there:

These buildings are not interesting there are many better pictures of Lodz buildings on Polish subforum ( check "Miasta Polskie" )You will not regret it...
