I do find it odd that though that Sheffield FC's home ground is in Dronfiled North East Derbyshire!

Bugger they lost.

Quite a few Derbyshire addresses have Sheffield post codes, including Dronfield. The Coach and Horses ground is only about a mile outside the city / county border, maybe less.

I'm sure it's been said before (probably by me) but the Sheffield postcode area corresponds roughly to the old district of Hallamshire, extended about 20 miles in each direction. This would have been the area that was deemed as Sheffield's trading area.

i would have thought that all sheffielders would have known that part of Sheffield has been in derbyshire for 150 years ,a basic school lesson i would think, when i was a kid the sign for derbyshire was at gleadless town end near the tram stop, parts of greenhill up to holmsfield another example, and now we have the mosborough townships etc spreading to the east.

Dronfield isn't in Sheffield though. Along with Chesterfield it has an 'S' for Sheffield postcode. Grimsby has a Donny postcode, though it's 50 miles from Donny.

No, officially it's just out of the city limits. But it is part of the Sheffield Metro Area, as are other places in Derbyshire, and Rotherham

roughly a third of sheffield lies in the peak district, the areas i have mentioned are in sheffield, postcodes are not relevant to city or town boundaries.

Financier in Sheffield Wednesday buy out withdraws

The major financier in the proposed takeover at Sheffield Wednesday has withdrawn his interest in the club.
Kevin Mundie, a senior executive at Certified Oil Rentals, pulled out of the deal citing family reasons.
But the Owls remain confident that they will be able to find the necessary investment to stave off administration.
The League One club has outstanding tax debts, reported to be around £1m, and is due in the High Court on 17 November to face a winding up petition.
Wednesday had hoped that Mundie would forward them a £2m advance to ease their cash worries but the COR group say they are still keen to invest and will continue their efforts to find the funds to complete the deal.
BBC Radio Sheffield understands that there a handful of other groups that are in talks with the Co-operative Bank, the Owls' main creditor, and the club still feel that a saviour will emerge from that pack.
Must've seen their last three matches! ;

Not funny at all, Wednesday must not be allowed to go under - rival fans need a rival.

As a Wednesday fan I look at that and judge you as a lesser fan, I would wish United the best in times like this.

Is there any comparable city not only in England but Europe as a whole who posses two more laughing stock teams than our own Sheffield pair.At Hillsbro we have the Owls who make headline after headline as to who the next savior who will be rushing in with millions to invest and then a deafening silence,At the glorious down town Bramall lane we have United? three multi millionaires on the board and a set of players who would struggle to get a game in a top Sunday league side. What a shambles.

The city is massively underachieving in footballing terms given its size. But, then again success isn't a given for a team just becuase they are from a big city. Both clubs at the moment are suffering from mis-management at the moment although in different contexts. This is a shame however as football in the city has the potential to be even bigger than it is. You could argue that is a recurring problem for the city in general - huge potential and ideas, but, always seems to miss out for one reason or another.

Sheffield deserves two sides in the Premier League. However, of course we know that no city/club has a god-given right to exist in the top flight. Both clubs need to pull their socks up and take a good look at themselves at what is going wrong exactly.

As a Norwich fan I can't say I exactly wish United were running away with the league, but seriously, when the possibility of Wednesday and United both being league 1 next season is a not too unlikely suggestion you know things are not right.

I think things have been going down hill at United since we got relegated from the Premier League, even considering the Play-Off final. The appointment of Robson was a huge mistake and cost us the chance of regaining promotion and it cost us financially too.

When you look at what Warnock is achieving at QPR now you must wish he never left!

Story today on Look North. Apparently Milan Mandarić is looking to get some money in. He'll have to move quickly though, as the winding up order is due on Wednesday (hadn't realised it was so soon) and he still has commitments to Leicester City.

United will be in the bottom three tonight, as Hull play Preston. A point for either side will sink us into the relegation zone.

Such a shame about that late pen at the Walkers. My City mate took great delight in that one, the bastard
