Plus who actually buys anything from the club shop? I don't anymore, if i did it would be a shirt at £40. So united would still be getting £35 extra out of me!lol

Utd were soundly beaten by yet another truckload of Arsene Wenger's offshore offerings. Invest in players from THESE SHORES you arse! (pun partially intended)

Because they're not based in the continent, they're based in London and you'd think that with a club as wealthy as them, they could invest in a youth academy like Man U have and grow some home talent...

Well four players out of a squad their size is pretty bad I think. The best players should start each game like, but its no wonder the England national team isn't excelling as we'd like it to when some of the larger teams in the country wont even entertain the home talents.

I'm not gonna deny that Arsenals record for developing local talent from a young age is piss poor, but I think Wenger is one of the best in the game for managing and developing young talent - just not from London. I think Wenger himself has bemoaned the fact he can't develop young English players because they're so ridiculously overpriced. When he bough Walcott, he said something like, we can only do this once.
The fact is Arsenal have developed a fantastic side (two fantastic sides? the reserves are pretty sharp!) with far less of the 'buying expensive experienced players' that say Chelsea (Ballack, Shevchenko) have, or the expensive young talent like ManU (£50m for Nani/Anderson) have. I don't like saying spending lots of money is a bad thing, its a very shady area, but I don't mind saying that when some people say Arsenal have too many foreign players, they are missing the point.

Surely if players come through the youth system then the cost should be a lot lower??? Look at the likes of Wayne Rooney, Alan Smith, the Nevilles, Beckham etc - they only cost a lot when they are sold on.

You see, this is what I'm saying. I said above that Arsenal seem incapable of producing english talent that can break into the first team*, but to berate them for that to me seems to be overlooking what Arsene Wenger has done with young players on a budget much smaller than his counterparts at perhaps ManU, Liverpool, and certainly less than Chelsea.
*Perhaps we forget that what might seem like average compared to the Arsenal 1st team, is actually still a few good players who have moved to smaller clubs and done well.

Lucky you didn't go Joz, most spineless performance I have seen in about 10 years, we were absolutely awful and don't let anyone make you believe it was because Arsenal were amazing. They were average, we were shocking.
Gutted it was my boyfs first United match |

Were you nearly falling asleep Adam? I know i was watching it on sky. I dread to think what it would have been like at the match.
Also whats this about someone running on the pitch? It didn't show you on sky, they just mentioned it. |

Yeah someone ran from the Kop right up to Robson without being challenged (shit security) and chucked his scarf at him. Got the biggest cheer of the night. Think he only has the next two home games to turn it around. Hope he does, who else would we get now.
