When they say Hongqiao in Shanghai, they usually refer to the so-called Hongqiao Development Zone. It's exactly outside the inner ring road on the westside of central Shanghai. That's the area with one of the highest density of highrise buildings in Shanghai. Lots of multinational companies had their office over there when they first came to Shangai 15 to 20 years ago. Hongqiao airport is further down west, probably 15 minutes drive away depending on the traffic.

Exaclty. That area has been quite on hold for a long decade. However, Lujiazui is totally full now, so the skyscraper boom may look for new areas to go on, there are some candidates already. There is a 290m tower approved in Hongqiao Development Zone: TIPS Building. This is the main project for the redevlopment process in that CBD, there are some other big ones proposed though.

Hongqiao Development Zone "today", the pics may be quite old:

Redevelopment project (the tallest one is the TIPS tower)

Again, this is plaza 66 phase two currently under construction. The difference

is the photo is taken directly on street level as normally this isnt the case

The picture of the Golden Bell Mansion is broken, it cannot be seen unless you open the link directly. Amazing pictures, BTW. I didn't expect the cladding of the Plaza 66 phase II were so advanced, I love that tower.

Yea, unfortunately that broken link was a result of my preliminary contact with online

hosting, obviously things arent looking very promising, not a major issue though, yea I

agree completely in relations to the cladding progress on Plaza 66, the roofing is

particularly interesting. Dont hesitate to add more photos in this post while your

indulging you self during the Shanghai visit Zorggy!

Amazing and advancing city !

Then I fell asleep in her arms.
That was happiness then.
