What do you think Toronto needs to make it stand out in the international community?
post any comments ideas, whehter it be as simple as cleaner streets or something u would like to see on the waterfront.
i personally would like to see a massive park on the waterfront, kind of like central park in new york city. would be great for torontonians to just lay back. |

What do I think Toronto needs to stand out internationally?
- a landmark structure (for example, the tallest in the world) - a top international festival (like, perhaps a film festival) - a large arts/culture scene (at least 3rd best in the world will do, in something like, say, Theatre) - a thriving music scene with internationally acclaimed artists - attract every 'starchitect' there is and convince them all to do multiple projects in TO, even a few could set up shop here - achieve a mythical status of some sort to garner attention (maybe something to do with multiculturalism) That's a good start

It needs a strong sense of identity. Something thats synonymous with Toronto. Eg, Paris = art, hookers....New York = Yankees, Center of Universe,....Sydney = anti asians, beautiful harbour
Toronto seems to be a jack of all trades but a master at none. |

We have to work much harder on increasing the number of hookers. When I walk home from work at night and say hi to the girls in front of Zanzibar, I will tell them to "Go forth and multiply". And maybe dig a massive canal from harbourfront up to Queen's Park. I just love these threads! Nothing like inventing inadequacies to bolster feelings of inferiority.

Less concern about how we "look" to others would be a good start. A more effective city government would help too.

And fewer "How Can We Make Ourselves Less Inadequate" threads would be a healthy start as well!
