As reported on the UAE section, there are sign on the construction site, that the tower is indeed going for a redesign of the exteriours, while work on the structure (at least the central core) goes on.

They have a mock up model of the tower (see picture above, right side) and they have erected scafolding around it, but not on the rest of the project board.

Lets hope for a flat roof, a pyramidshaped roof feature on The Tower is enough for the block.A clocktower would be interesting on SZR but make it more original, maybe a white facade a la capricorn, and flat roof. What about digital clocks?

I'm sorry I just don't like this building at all. It's really ugly, and a crappy rip from Big Ben in London.

I love when a tower starts raising. Is a redesign still being studied or this was just another rumour?

A huge thank you to Imre for these pictures and all the others.

I love Dubai but this tower needs a total redesign, it is quite simply ghastly in all versions seen so far. That wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so TALL!

Redesign whilst you still can!

We all hope and keep our finger crossed for a redesign, or at least a proper high quality render, showing exactly how it will look like. You have to accept that the renders are ALL crap; actually all the renders of the designs by the same architctural studio are crap.

Locke:

Agree, the plot deserves and demands a better design
