Yup. As big as the city looks, not too many people actually live there.

Three and a half million people live in the Dubai-Sharjah-Ajman metropolitan area, that's "not too many people"?

Nope, its a HDR shot so if you look carefully you can seen the lights of cars that make little lines on Sheikh Zayed Road. This is evident within the photo especially to the top right hand side.

Still, you have to wonder how many of those 3.5 million people are middle class citizens who can afford a car.

You're right, there are no cars on Dubai's roads and highways (that's right, is more then one, 4 actually of 4 - 7 lanes on each direction), and those are used only as emergency landing strips for Airplanes.

Something seems to happen at The Torch. There's an about 10m long grid on the top, another one most likely waiting to be erected:

Yep, Dubai, like all Arab cities, consists of a small handful of super-rich oil sheiks and an army of slaves. That's totally not a stereotype.

Yeah, people go for jobs but they don't live there. WTF of a logic is that? I came to work here 10 & half years ago, but god forbit I live here ... I teleport myself back to my home country as soon as finish work.
