I think it has already. At least it looks that to me, not to mention that the core of The torch seams to not have grown for weeks. (haven't checked the latest zoomed pics though)

A propos zoomed pictures: this one of The Torch on 18/Dec/2009 by Imre shows that the core was around 8m taller than the concrete beams of the recently finished transition floor. Although core is not visible anymore from an upwards view, this shouldn't have changed much, and so I still see Torch slightly ahead of Princess Tower.

No matter the distance and/or angle, I've never been able to see the core on The Torch for a few weeks now. Also, as I said earlier, that tower doesn't look to be taller then The Princess anymore.

I am talking based on visual observations, not pictures posted here.

I only can judge by regularly watching Imre's pictures...
It would be helpful, if there were public detailled plans or floor/height charts for all Marina Skyscapers, like there is for Princess Tower.

Well... would be fine of course, if that's possible for some of the towers.
Apparently many developers seem to prefer to keep their plans under cover. But I guess some of the Dubai folks have the connections...

About Emirates Crown height's error speaking earlier. I found this, however they want sources to explain why 284 m and not 296 m.

http://www.ctbuh.org/LinkClick.aspx?...language=en-GB

So less than 100 m left to TO for Princess Tower now ?

Core framework up to floor 84 / 312.3 m.
So one new floor for core and slab in 10 days - not fast paced, but rising steadily.

After checking Imre's new pics of the Torch, I'm with you: although not at crown level yet, Princess Tower deserves the crown as Marina's tallest now.

What if the core have jumped one more level by noon time and Imre would have taken the pic in afternoon, will that mean 1 floor in 5 days?

Yes, as an average figure... it's just a comparison between two picture updates. With "rising steadily" I mean in the long run, not like a plant an inch per hour. Can't tell when things are happening exactly (without a Marina webcam) - construction could`ve stopped for a week and resumed afterwards at full speed for instance. But today they've worked on the Princess Tower site, because the position of the top crane changes between the pics.

From what I can see in that second last photo, Princess Tower is clearly now taller than the Torch. About another 100m to go here I am guessing..

this must be the most amazing supertall cluster in the world. the density is insane (too insane for me). you're f***ed when you live in the center of the cluster in one of the lower floors.

Density can be a good thing. But other times not so much. Their just isn't any good reason to stick all these supertalls right next to one another. Maybe if they were office towers. But not residential. You shouldn't have to worry about keeping your shades closed all the time for a little privacy. Though no doubt their will be some voyeurs who relish the fact.

What level is PT at now? Floor 69-70? Core 75-76? Can't exactly make out from these photos.

Thanks Imre
