But there's no belly... Princess looks more like a "Long Tall Sally".

Nice pics from some upper Torch floors, Imre!

More like "Long Lasting Sally", considering how long it is taking to reach the climax.

these two pictures illustrate quite well how the front and particularly side views benefit from having the pool on the back side of the podium. the tower is exposed closer to the shoreline.

this view from the back side shows how far out in the lineup it really is. on the picture we see Emirates Crown and Le Reve, but Princess Tower is completely hidden behind emirates crown. only its podium is visible. however, this also means that marina views are not that great for the same reason.... unless your unit is above the 70th floor.

I'm not a fan of tall condos. This building looks just like the buildings, being built around it, with a different crown.

agreed, plus the materials being used look pretty cheap and don't suit a condo bldg at all. I especially dont like the ornamentic grills they put on and the nods on the surrounding cladding panels.

EDIT: plus i am wondering how theese buildings will age in lets say the next 20 years, given the materials being used and the harsh weather circumstances.

the materials don't suit a condo bldg at all?

well, not so fast, it really depends on how you look at it:
if they look cheap it's maybe because they actually aren't top of the line. however, if everything was top of the line materials, on the inside and outside, you wouldn't be able to buy a condo here for a price per square meter comparable to some average city in southern Germany that has an average view. don't expect downtown Frankfurt office building materials in a building with a unit price like most of these towers here. you will always have to carefully determine a compromise between looks and economics. architects are not stupid - they have budget constraints to adhere to.

so again, does the material suit a condo building? for looks, anybody from outside can decide based on their personal taste. for the overall package, only developers and buyers get to decide based on their purse and value for money...

just for the records - not that anybody really cares what I personally like - I find the ornaments on top and particularly the ones they just installed on the podium look great. the ones on the podium look better when you stand in front of the tower than on the tiny pictures. the shape of grills on the 79th floor will match the crown, which has not been installed yet.

So what you're saying is it can be cheap materials as long as it's tall? Seems like most of Dubai in a nutshell...

What he is saying, is that the materials aren't as cheap as you think they are, you are just looking for things to disslike.

Maybe you wouldn't say so if it was only glass used, but then no tower with allot of balconies, can be fully claded with glass.

Hey don't get me wrong, of all the marina projects, Princess Tower is by far my favourite. I was just commenting on his explanation more than the actual outcome. Looks quality for the most part to me on this gem. Just can't get over the podium.

Good response there PrincessTower. I think that the simpleness of this building, the fact that it looks somewhat like a more ordinary high-rise (but is 10 times higher) makes it awesome. Damn, i would like to live in that building. Ofcourse I like these shiny glasscovered skyscrapers too, no doubt about that

the other way around - only because it's tall doesn't mean you will only use top of the line material. here in dubai at least. in other places that might not be true, since supertalls are more rare and therefore can get exceptionally expensive regarding buying or renting. and you're right, that the case for many towers here.

hard rock cafe, and as far as I'm aware it used to be the tallest building around. now it has been abandonned for years. it's not as big as it seems though, actually quite small as you can tell by comparing to the two cars in front.
