I never believe what BBC says .It is the single most lying newspaper on earth .The only newspaper that can compete with it in terms of false news and twisted tales is KCNA the news network of North korea.

Finally some renders of Jingrongjie Group's project, by SOM. So there isn't any 80 floor tower there, bad journalists invented it. Even China has incompetent journalism after all. Still it is a nice filler for Jiangbei New City CBD

Century Emperor by 我是人. 198m (slighty shorter than expected as we thought it would be around 200-205m). Seems totally completed now.

Why do major projects like this get so little coverage in the West? There is so little information in English, there is not even a Wikipedia article on it, I managed only to find some short tech specs on structurae.

CONSTRUCTION OF INLAND FREE TRADE AREA STARTS IN SW CHINA

CHONGQING, June 3 Asia Pulse - Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality began construction of its free trade area, the first of its kind in the deep inland of the country, on Tuesday, in an effort to boost economic development in the area.

The first phase of the Cuntan Bonded Area covers 2.67 sq km and will cost 3 billion yuan (US$439.20 million). It will be completed and put into operation at the end of this year.

The 8.37-sq km Cuntan Bonded Area centers both the Cuntan Harbor and the Jiangbei International Airport. The whole bonded area, to be built in three phases, will be completed in 2015 with a total investment of about 10 billion yuan.

Chongqing Vice Mayor Huang Qifan said the bonded area will greatly push the development of Chongqing's exports-oriented economy and accelerate the opening up of central and western inland cities.

Enterprises in a bonded area enjoy such preferential policies as tax rebates for exports and free tax for trading within the area. China has established ten free trade zones in eastern coastal areas.

Another big one coming. Should be taller than 250m. The render is obviously conceptual.
