Chips and Pollard street are having a more imposing feel on the area than I was expecting. I figured that when all was done it'd be more Piccadilly Village than spinningfields-scale but despite the plentiful open spaces a lot of the developments will be substantial enough to remind you you're still in a very urban area.
This is not necessarily a bad thing though but its already changing the way I imaginge the atmosphere would be.

They're starting to put windows in on the south(ish) elevation. (Sorry, no pic though. In the light you wouldn't have been able to tell)

There's quite a bit of excavation going on on the Pollard Street side - it might be preparation for the second of the two low-rise blocks.

Credit crunch? What bloody credit crunch?
I'm not quite sure how this one has escaped it but its pushing ahead at some speed now. It seemed very much a periphery development but is holding it's own. And it doesn't half look like the renders, on Comdot's last picture. I'm liking it. New Islington faces tough times ahead and I think they need a bit of a change of plan else the Tutti Frutti developments risk being left isolated for some time. And by time I mean years. Hopefully the TV program charting their development will help.
