That's interesting, because the DA I mentioned a few posts back relates to the all-office approval; I hope the new DA isn't just another excuse to delay things.

I'm going to miss that crappy little shopping centre.

That's awesome news! I'd all but written this one off...

I'd say if everything is closing down then it looks promising.

It was good when it had Pizza Hut (I miss those dine in restaurants) and Timezone but ever since they left it has become one of the places to avoid.

would you believe a few years ago a planner wanted to retain the 70's shops in fabians pic as heritage items? he said they reflected a relaxed approach to CBD retail. ill take a 50storey tower of this anyday.

Yes, just do it *bling*

Walked by yesterday and most stores still haven't put up closing signs, but it's a start. The shopping centre looked like it had it in the 80s let alone 20 years hence.

So the address for the project has changed and it's now confirmed as office? OK. Cool to see Citi & The Hilton towers getting a worthwhile 'n substantial neighbour.

Thanks Fabian for your scoop on it starting next year.

Hmmmm??? Maybe the title can be changed to "Demolition"??? I was walking along Castleraegh St at lunch and looked over to see the tower crane and hoardings. I also noticed a DA stuck up against the hoardings and thought I'd have a read expecting to read about the refurbishment mentioned above. But no, it says it's a demolitian DA to build a 43 storey office block (with the pitt st addresses being given). I looked up again at the crane and through the black mesh and it did seem like shit was being ripped off and lots of noise.

There has been the Mid City Centre which took 20 years just to get to where it is now and we have been following 33 Bligh (renamed 1 Richard Johnson Pl) for years as well.

Things take time, but they are built.
