Ahhh....sad to hear about the delay of the airport opening. Stupid bombers. They do nothing but hinder the growth of the country, contrary to what they believe.

PRESIDENT Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will be back at the province on March 9 to visit Kabankalan City and Isabela town.

Marañon said the President is expected to lead the inauguration of the airport in Kabankalan City and visit an irrigation system in Isabela. As for the recent visit of President Arroyo, Marañon said, "the President was very pleased and happy with the hospitality of the Negrenses."

Asked if the President offered commitments with regards to the facilities and equipment of the Teresita Jalandoni Memorial Regional Hospital in Silay City, Marañon said "she did not made any, but we will be writing her a letter so she can provide us with some additional facilities and equipment needed at the hospital."

Meanwhile, Marañon said the President is also expected to come and visit the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC)-Energy Development Corporation (EDC) project in Barangay Mailum, Bago City to discuss matters regarding the proposed expansion of the Geothermal Powerplant in the area. Marañon, however, said the PNOC project may encounter problems as the law that provides for such expansion still needs amendments. source

>Saan kaya lalabas ang diversion road ng paliparan, papunta sa highway sa Silay?
>Asa di-ay mogawas ang diversion road sa palupdanan, padung sa highway sa Silay?
>Where will the Diversion Road (airport access road) intersect the main highway in Silay?

Kai Sei- Lacson Street, Bacolod

They have the best sushi in town! Serves a variety of dishes from tempura to chicken teriyaki to different types of sushi. People favorite is their California Maki. The mangoes, the rice and the caviar go so well together, just dip it in the sauce they give you.

Kaisei - Must you still have your sushi, sashimi and maki in inasal country? You will do well to head on to Kaisei, the largest and finest Japanese restaurant here. Prices are comparable to those in Manila. Open daily from 1 1 a.m.-2 p.m. and 6 p.m.-9:45 p.m.

San Carlos City airport needs P100M

The Regional Development Council of Western Visayas yesterday endorsed the request of the San Carlos City government for P100 million from the national government to help fund the on-going construction of the city's community airport project.

The resolution was passed during the first quarter regular meeting of the RDC at the Grand Regal Hotel in Bacolod City presided over by Antique Gov. Sally Zaldivar-Perez, RDC chairperson.

The project is located on a 40-hectare property donated by the Negros Fisheries Corporation to the city government, the site being adjacent to the San Carlos City Special Economic Zone, Mayor Eugenio Jose Lacson said.
The on-going community airport project has a 1,350 meters runway with a 75 meter airstrip and other related air navigational facilities and structures, he said.

After spending approximately P84 million out of the city's local funds and accomplishing about 35 percent of the project's physical requirements, the need for additional funds from other sources to help finance other major work items of the project is seen as necessary for the project's completion, he said.

The P100 million is being sought through the Department of Transportation and Communications for the construction of box culverts across Socorro Creek, Vasconia Creek and Tongo Creek and other facilities and structures, the RDC resolution said.

Gov. Joseph Marañon thanked the RDC for earlier passing a resolution endorsing the conduct of a feasibility study for the proposed Trans-Visayas Friendship bridges that will connect Negros to Panay and Cebu.
A project study on the bridges is now being prepared by the Philippine Consultancy Inc., he said.

Perez also sought the passage of a resolution for OIC regional directors to be given permanent appointments. The constant transferring of regional directors is detrimental to the continuity of projects in the region, Perez said.
The RDC yesterday also endorsed the project proposal of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources for a "Community-Based Forest and Mangrove Management Program in Panay and Negros" for KfW funding in the amount of EUR 8.75 million.

The project focuses on a balanced program of investments in forest and mangrove rehabilitation and management, rural infrastructure, natural resource-based income earning activities and capacity building of the target beneficiaries, the resolution said.

It also endorsed the project proposal entitled "Strengthening the Implementation of Basic Education in the Visayas (strive) stage 2" to the Investment Coordination Committee.

The project proposal is part of the multi-year grant assistance from the Australia government to the Philippines to improve access and quality of basic education in the Visayas. In Region VI the Division of Negros Occidental was identified as the recipient. source

What does he mean, widen the roads in the downtown area? I agree, because traffic there was crazy the past couple of days. And there were a lot of people walking from the public plaza to SM City virtually occupying that street. Drivers should slow down when traversing that street.

Especially today, Sunday, people will definitely flock the mall after church. Hope the local government finds a way to resolve the virtual gridlock in that area. As long as the mall is there, i dont think pedestrian traffic will go away.

I think Sylvia Manor is owned by the same owners of Ocana, the company where we photocopy documents. I believe they have expanded to related services and outside of Negros. I have seen outlets in Manila, specifically, Buendia near Makati Med.
