@ zeeshaney
I'm just curious what this Giant's World really is about. Looking at the envisioned masterplan (for Giant's World), it looks like a distopian-like fantasy world. What surprises, amazes and, at the same time, dissapoints me is that it is so realistically up into making full-scale replicas of supposed fantasy-buildings. I believe buildings similar in design as that huge black tower of "evil" but of a smaller scale would be enough to evoke the sense of fantasy (a sense of being with the fantastical elements of the area's theme) in a child/young adult's mind. It is simply too much to build 20-storey-scaled "evil" towers as a prop used to "theme-atize" (if there is such a word) this Giant's World.
Sorry if I sound pessimistic, but is there really enough demand from the world to build something this huge (refering to the entire Dubailand). Heck, even parks/resorts that are way smaller in scale (i.e. Disney Paris Resort's 2,000 hectares; as compared to Dubailand's 27,000+ hectares) have difficulty churning out profits from their operations. Hey, I don't mean to burst the enthusiasm and vision of Dubai. It is just that Dubailand is simply too ambitious to even make some form of economic sense. While fifteen to twenty million annual person-visits may seem a lot, it still would not be able to produce the needed revenue stream to even be barely profitable. Heck, I even seriously doubt that it'll make a cent of profit because even if the cost of the entire project's construction would be recovered through the revenues of its operation, the enormity of the cost of maintenance would simply make its long-term financial viability be unrealistic and unfeasible. Furthermore, the project is just simply too audacious that there are many redundant as well as unnecessary projects. For example, there is not just one golf course projects in this thing but at least three. In addition, there are simply too many areas dedicated for residential purposes. It simply exacerbates the housing oversupply. I believe that, perhaps, two areas allocated for housing, at the most. Let the rest of the place be dedicated for what DubaiLand was originally planned to become, an entertainment-centric multi-project mega-complex. Yet another example would be the simple lack of inspiration when it comes to conceptualizing or even naming a themed-land. Proposals like Beautyland and Kid's World and their respective theme-based museums are so contrived. It is as if they hired some five-year old and gave him the liberty to do the overall conceptual designs of these things and then the adults simply nodded, "Yes, master." I mean, is it worth your time to visit these places? Heck, what is even the material or topic-of-display in these museums? Why would anyone be interested in visiting them? Lastly, "Al Bawadi" is a purely shit idea and an utter waste of money, if built. I mean, why would you concentrate all hospitality facilities on one 10-kilometer stretch of road when you have 27,000+ hectares of land to work with. Isn't it better to evenly spread these hotels and resorts around the park. And, where on Earth will you find enough tourists to fill all those hotel rooms (60,000 units)? Listen, I am not a Dubai-basher. It is just that the unbelievable scale of this thing [Dubailand] gave me doubts about this thing's financial viability.

What happens in 10 years if people don't come to Dubai???? It would be a disaster. How many days would you need to spend there to see the whole of Dubailand??? And one more question. Who thought of such creative names??? :P
Dubai is amazing. Dubailand should be a country. |

That's actually the first time I notice Falcon City has the shape of a falcon
![]() Regarding the probable redundant projects, I can imagine that if by any chances, there was less demand than expected when the first theme parks open, the other ones would be scaled down. I really love these models, must have required a lot of patient work. |

@ zeeshaney
Not only is the "U" missing but also the "N" is placed wrongly...
![]() I believe the model could have been made better. This model, though far more superior than an 8 year old's science project, is not so professionally done as compared to the normal project-models you see in large-scale Japanese and Chinese projects, imho. Although, I must admit that the current model still took a lot of time and effort to build.

@ Bender
You can check out the Chinese Mainland Forums' construction threads. There are lots of models there that seems to have been given more effort in terms of detail. But you got to see those Japanese Models (the one which is the model of Tokyo displayed at Ropponggi Hill's Mori Building)...they're jawdroppingly awesome!

You may try the Construction Updates Forums. There is a thread there that is entitled "Beijing CCTV Headqaurters". Now, try looking at the last page of this particular thread. It shows the model of Beijing's future CBD.
