Great, now Downtown Manhattan looks just like Center City Philly. If this is the best that modern architects can do, Yamasaki was a genius.

I am really really disapointed i hoped for something better for new yorks new wtc but this looks like normal skyscrapers for an avarage city.I hope that theese are only predesigns and they will change the design a bit too make it better.

I don't know what people were expecting, maybe a surprise 3000ft tower or something?
Tower 2 is nothing short of awsome, same goes for tower 3. Tower 3 reminds me of the john hancock centre with the crossbeams. Tower 4 is, well, I guess you can't have em all

i think i'm disappointed, but i also think 2 and 3 will grow on me. 4 is too bland...it looks like it belongs in an office park in outer London.

Quote:
Construction of Tower 2 will require the removal of the Vesey Street staircase, also known as the survivors’ stairway, which is the only aboveground remnant of the original trade center that is still in place. It served as an escape route for hundreds of people on 9/11.
Tower 2 looks great, but i don't like that it's going to destroy the staircase. i would like for the staircase or some of the facade that was standing around the original footprints to be left in place, it would be sort of like the Peace Dome in Hiroshima, or that ruined church from WW2 in Germany...a real reminder of what happened for future generations.

I like them, however they would suit London more than New York.

There is no doubt that 2,3, and 4 are great but 4 is the only one that compliments WTC1. As others have said 2 and 3 belong in other cities. The original massing models although bland complimented WTC 1 more than 2 and 3.

I like 'em. I'm having a hard time with 2 from the drawings, but I think it will be great in real life. 3 is a gem. 4 is minimalist, but one of them almost has to be or else the whole lot will be too overwhelming. I think they'll work well together. I'm not wild about the stepping down, I'd probably rather have had the tallest as bookends, but that would change everything. Well done, I say. This will be much more dynamic than the old towers, although probably less iconic.

Wow! Not what I was expecting at all. All good designs in individual ways but not as a group.

Been looking at them since they came out and just get the feeling that tower 2 and 3 are trying to take over the freedom tower as the centre piece in the master plan IMO. If you look at the renders I always seem to be drawn to those towers 1 and 2. I think this is due to there interesting shapes and facades. IMO the best design out of the lot is tower 4 it is simple and takes a back seat for the freedom tower to be the centre piece as it was meant to be.

the fosters tower is very unique and is a nice stark contrast to tower 1, i just wish they were a little taller, i read somewhere that the original plans was to have 3 of the new towers (not including tower 1) taller than the original world trade centre towers. still they will be a fitting tribute to NY and keep manhatten the skyscraper capital of the world.

i love towers 2 and 3 as seperate buildings. any city would ecstatic to get a 1350 foot tower 2. or the 1150 t3. but, im not sure they all work together. i have no doubt it will grow on me, but my initial reaction is that it looks a little messy

Keep in mind they' all be the same color and use the same stainless steel facade.
