I think Santiago has a Mediterranean climate... so it's not cold at all... very mid-latitude mild climate. Yes cool, wet winters but warm dry summers. Cities that are similar in climate are San Francisco USA, Cape Town S.Afr, Lisbon POR, Melbourne AUS.

Would love to visit someday, really want to see more of my southern hemisphere. Need to see Australia, New Zealand and of course, the southern cone of S.America. Really want to do a Santiago, Ushuaia, Buenos Aires road-trip triangle!!!

Historically it wasn't but I would most definitely consider it now as downtown / city centre since they've grown into each other creating urban integration / ensemble and upwards (vertical growth), specially Providencia. And actually, Santiago doesn't have that much suburbia as many people think. It's quite dense to be honest. I wouldn't mind if you read first and THEN gave your opinion, thanks.

Keep on posting pictures, Caglieri!

Cheers.

Hi, I referred only to first and the second photo (offices buildings at Santiago Downtown, taken from Santa Lucia Hill Park, and View from the top of Santa Lucía Hill). Each photo has a header that says the name of the place or street.

Thanks for visit this thread!

MAGIC Santiago de Chile.

Santiago de Chile, the most beautiful city in the world for me

Santiago at Night:

SPECTACULAR

It has a wonderful and a very interesting architecture, green areas, parks, wide and big sidewalks, cultural places, great subways or undergrounds, clean, really modern, beautiful landscapes, awesome hotels and restaurants, etc and behind the city is the Andes Mountain range. In 2011, Santiago de Chile was chosen for The New York times as the best city to visit in the world.

CHILE, the safest country in Latin America.

Santiago looks very modern and the historic core of the city is very singular in Latin America from what I've seen on here. Can you post some of the centro historico? Also the mountains around Santiago de Chile are stunning!

Santiago de Chile is a mix between modern architecture and European old architecture
