There's some good renders of some projects in here, (need to register to view them):

http://www.bohaibbs.org/thread-109652-1-1.html

I'm especially interested in the leisure area along the river, and and this Hexi District redevelopment, (with 2 towers in the 260-320m range, by my guestimation), in the southeast part of the city.

Seems as though the plans for the arts quarter are being finalized:

http://www.tianjinexpats.com/index.p...Finalised.html
Quote:
Around the world, more and more cities have realised that investment in the arts can be a quick and relatively inexpensive way of raising the profile of a city. It's common to hear of projects for new art galleries, libraries, theatres and museums as ambitious cities try to put themsleves on the map. But not many have done what Tianjin is proposing. It's going to build all four. At the same time. In the same place.

The location for the planned development is the area directly to the east of Galaxy Square (on Youyi Lu), the home of the current, and only five years old, Tianjin Museum. Bounded by Leyuan Dao to the north and Pingjiang Dao to the south, most of the land is currently used by the Le Yuan, known as the Children's Park or Amusement Park.On the far south-eastern side are the Museum of Science and Technology and a theater, both of which will be retained and incorporated into the development.

I agree! So many beautiful proposals. It's a heaven for a modern architecture fan like me.

Construction just started on a new aquatic center near the Olympic stadium. It will be capable of seating 4,000 people.

Sorry, here's the link:

Jin Wan Plaza is between modern skyscrapers, but it is also in the heart of Tianjin's old European district. If you look at the old design for Jin Wan Plaza, it was very out of place, given the immediate surroundings. I don't really like the whole "tear down old buildings so we can build new buildings that look old" policy, but it is at least a step towards trying to maintain some of the character of the old city, instead of just bulldozing everything and building commie-block appartments.

West Station. Pics by dinfengyuan.

They will build a skyline in a long term there.

How long is a long term? Wouldn't be surprised if this was completed in 15 years or so.

Long term = 10-15 years.

A couple more miscellaneous Tianjin projects:

New Haihe CBD, in the south of Tianjin, Hexi District, along the Hai River. Pics of this have been posted before, but I believe these are new. Features a pair of towers, (preliminary designs), that look like they'll top 300m:

Pan Pacific Hotel, near Da Hutong and the Tianjin Eye:

Rujing Dasha, 19 floor twin towers, on Nanjing Lu near Haiguangsi.

Also, the big arts quarter mentioned on the previous page is now under construction, although I don't have any pics, and am not sure what final designs were chosen.

The new Haihe CBD, in the south of Tianjin, Hexi District, along the Hai River with the red roofs gives that area a European look, looks nice.
