It's the board that's wrong I think. They only bother changing it every so often since they're lazy, when the tower's on floor 64 in reality they might put up a poster saying "now 66 floors tall", then they wait until the tower has reached floor 68 or something before changing it again

possible built floors muzltiplicated by height of a floor:39*3.8=148,2m
current height plus the possible built height: 266+148.2=414.2m

So its possible that BD surpass the 400m mark until the end of the year so if my calculation is right BD will be the 7th talles building of the world by the end of the year.
i think it rises more like evry 5 days with 3day pour/sets.
so 116/5=23 more floors or approx 93rd floor or 350m by NYE. ive said this all along.but never know might go up faster but doubt it. concrete can only set so fast.

Remember to take into account the month of Ramadan, which stars from Sept 23. Construction will slow down during this period to almost half its current speed.

For easier floor count on the pics:

1st wing, 1st setback reaches floor 19, 2nd setback reaches floor 43 (the "hole");
2nd wing, 1st setback reaches floor 26, 2nd setback reaches floor 53;
3rd wing, 1st setback reaches floor 34, 2nd setback reaches floor 64.
(That's the planning)

It seems the 2 floors above 43 (the "hole") count "double", it seems also that setbacks grow together and stop growing when lower is reached (floor 19, floor 43 etc.).

So in the last pic, if the 2 (higher floors) above 43 are 44-45 and 46-47, the final floor count si clearly 70.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

you're right.. the last image confirms 70 levels. This proves that we shouldn't go by the board.

Your right, they are being lazy. I'll bet they put up a sign any day now that says 72 or 73 floors.

Guess even if it's nice to keep the sign updated, it's just not important so you can't exactly blame them. As long as it's updated every few days then we know for sure, unless a full-height photo confirms otherwise. There's no problem if it's a floor or two out of date as long as it's updated soon . Thanks Cul and everyone for their recent update photos!

There´s a difference between LEVELS and STOREYS. I counted 70 levels and 68 storeys in the last photo.

If you look at any photo of the base of BD you can see that there are floors below the one marked (painted on the structure) as number one. Not sure how many though, usually you see only one but the section elevation drawing shows at least three.

well there are underground floors, but why are they not underground storeys, you make out that storey and level have different meanings, i'd say it has 70 levels 68 of which are above ground, or 70 storeys 68 of which are above ground, but it makes very little difference, was just curious as to your thinking. lets not make this a stupid side track style conversation though, this thread is big enough, im happy to end it here.
