That, or even in his wildest fantasy Indianapolis won't have any decent public transit to show for.

Here is a fantasy map of LA that most of will become reality in some form in the next 30 years. this is made by Damien Goodman, who is a member here as well as SSP. This map includes current lines, lines under construction, and future lines that have been studied my the MTA as well as a few other potential lines.

Sydney doesn't have a conventional "metro" as such but has an extensive suburban commuter network with most lines converging in the city centre in the form of an underground city loop

This is what the current network looks like

A new line (Chatswood - Epping Line) is currently under construction and features three underground stations.

This is what a possible 2050 network might look like under the Christie Report

In my opinion this much more extended network is great but it aims to be built too far into the future - 2025 should be tops.

Also, an extensive lightrail system should be built in the inner west, inner city and eastern suburbs of Sydney

the current measly and short lightrail line is, well, far to short and doesn't really go anywhere. It connects the bottom of the Sydney CBD with some relatively low density suburbs in Sydney's Inner WEst

if only....

Note;

the grey lines in the last image are actually current lines serving Regional Sydney

PS Note;

the Sydney Commuter Rail system is usually referred to as a "Hybrid System" - that is, a mix between commuter rail and Metro

PSS Note;

reliability and the long gap between trains arriving at most suburban stations needs to be drastically improved - something more than the "Rail Clearways" project.
