Phew...way too cluttered! Probably famous because it must have been a hell of a job designing it.

Fab I wonder if air-jumper is referring to the concept of the 45 degree based style of diagram popularized by the 1933 London Tube map of Harry Beck?

If that is what is being referred to than I'd like to point out to the poster that recent research by Max Roberts, Andrew Dow and myself & others in our various books has tended to show that the evolution towards diagrams of this nature can be traced to Berlin S-Bahn maps, in-car 'strip' diagrams and many examples from all over the world of mainline railway maps.

British designers Beck and George Dow were certainly highly influential but like a lot of things, they stood on the shoulders of what went before and I'd be surprised if mapmakers like Joho would cite British design as their only influence.

So would be interesting to see what air-jumper means - and why it might be a problem for them? :-)

For a change, an official fantasy: this is what the NYC Subway system could have looked like, according to a 1920's plan:

Here's a link to an article that covers the plan.

It's a track map for my i|link series. Nothing special, but I wanted to bump the thread to see some more cool stuff!

A mix of reality and fantasy: the NYC Subway by 2030? Featuring the #7 extension (incl. 10 Av station), a full length Second Avenue Subway (T) and the Fulton St Transit Center as current capital projects.
I left the M where it will be from June 28 on (via Sixth Avenue instead of the Nassau St Loop), and opted for an extension of the Z train into Brooklyn instead. The W returns to take over the Q to Astoria alongside the N.

Here is Marató subway. Marató (and not Mataró ) is a fictional Barcelona-like city. At 1.7 milion inhabitant is the fourth city of my imaginary country Charliland. It currently has some 100 kilometres of rails. The map includes three tram lines and a light rail line.

Your map would probably look a whole lot better if you tried saving it in .png format instead of .jpg. Or .gif, depending on the age of your computer and/or OS

Thanks Alargule. I remade the map now, and saved it as Portable Net Graphics (PNG). This new map has the North on the upper side, and has U/C, planned, and suburban train lines. The line 8 between Canyadell and Vall de Belen isn't open yet!

The map was MSPainted. It's incredible that you can make those in Paint!
