Downtown Atlanta has been quiet lately compared to Buckhead as far as new/highrise construction...although the whole city is rather quiet at the moment. The only construction I can think of currently happening Downtown is where the Georgia Aquarium is building a new dolphin exhibit. But Downtown is still a good bit larger and more pedestrian friendly than Buckhead.

IMO, what I consider Midtown Houston doesn't have a significant skyline at all as of yet. The Museum District/Medical Center does, so in comparison I suppose that would be the best thing to compare to Midtown Atlanta (in actual size). I think it's unfair to try to compare Midtown Atlanta to Midtown Houston.

*note* To those that are familar with Houston and have been to Atlanta recently, would you consider the distance between Downtown Atlanta and Midtown Atlanta the same distance between Uptown Houston and Greenway Plaza?

Anyway, Those shots of Buckhead are crazy. I actually am more of a fan of Buckhead's skyline than actual downtown Atlanta. I love all of the modern architecture Buckhead has.
There is really no distance between Downtown and Midtown Atlanta. The two districts border each other, as many urban districts do. North Avenue is the dividing line, and the area north of there is Midtown while south of there is Downtown. The skylines are definitely growing together, but they are still two separate districts - no matter how they appear.

Uptown Charlotte is more comparable to midtown or downtown Atlanta than Buckhead, IMO (although downtown Atlanta is certainly more developed than uptown Charlotte).

Agreed...the Midtown skyline being newer-looking than Downtown, IMO it more resembles Uptown Charlotte.

But, hey, it at least provides for some variety, and who would want a skyline thats all glass?

Buckhead is looking good, but is it stabilizing as far as construction projects?

That building is called The Mansion of Peachtree. I don't like it either.

Downtown is nice enough but living in a place like this is more akin to a nightmare than a dream.

I like the body of the building, but that cheap crown is horrible.

That last pic is marvelous. I hate to say this, but Buckhead's skyline looks better than Jacksonville's.

Damn those pictures are beautiful! I love the way ATL has 3 major skylines, and I don't know how many suburban skylines it has!
