...East London *Discussion*
I've started a Gallery thread for photos of East London, second largest city in Eastern Cape which has 700,000 people. It is the largest riverside port in South Africa and is a popular tourist destination for local travellers.
StormShadow please replicate the good work you did on the Port Elizabeth Gallery you started. |

July - August 2006
The Safmarine Agulhas, after experiencing engine trouble, became stranded on a sand bank outside East London harbour. All the containers were rescued from here deck and vessel later broke in half. ![]()

Grand Complex Set In East London - 2006/09/14
Email Article East London, the Nahoon Mouth area, is set to be the site of a chic, upmarket apartment complex. The residential development will be built in an outstanding location, which lends itself to the best in ultra-modern living. The Furstenberg Grand is unlike anything East London has ever seen and is certain to be a hot property for those wishing to live the optimum secure lifestyle with high tech modern finishes of international quality. There are 67 two-bedroomed, open plan units in the complex. High speed lifts carry residents to their homes and a 24 hour security and concierge desk ensures convenience. The building is further enhanced by a climate-controlled glass atrium. Developer Grant Furstenburg points out that this sort of development is already driving architectural trends on the landscapes of cities such as Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban. "This kind of project is very costly to realise and the resultant price tag will reflect that. I think that local developers have been wary of outlaying this sort of capital in the East London area, in the fear that there is no market to support it. I feel, however that the timing of The Furstenburg Grand is perfect and I know that East London is ready to see something of an international standard, and pay the price for it too." Property agents, RE/MAX agree. "We have had enormous interest from the public, and this even before the official launch date. It is wonderful to be involved in such an aspirational project. We think it will be a hottest property on the East London map", says Anne Chegwidden of RE/MAX Sunshine Coast. Construction of The Furstenburg Grand is due to begin in mid-January of 2007. Prices begin at R 1, 3m and migrate to R 1, 7m. Image: Artist's impression of The Furstenburg Grand.
