I guess Dubai isn't a megacity. The most common definition of a megacity being that it has more than 10 mio. inhabitants.

All of them are pretty sweet. The least favorite is that Times Square project. I hate to say it but it looks too American.

Shenzhen certainly qualifies as a mega city. The official figure for "permanent" residents is 2 million. The police who should have some idea say that added to this are 11 million "temporary" residents which brings the total to 13 million. Hong Kong-Shenzhen at 20 million is the biggest city in China and one of the biggest in the world

Incidentally a quick look outside my window says that several of the pictures on the previous page are now pretty well up, eg Great China and Times Excellence. New World which is a favorite of mine is close. BTW nobody ever calls Shun Hing that name. It is always Di Wang

They are but they need not be. They are so close and the integration is so fast and deep, that it's only really politics that artificially separates these two cities. Hong Kong and Shenzhen will unite one day, just like East and West Berlin did.

The culture is entirely different though. A conservative guess would be that 6.5 million out of 7 million in Hong Kong would oppose merging...

But anyway, do continue with the Shenzhen projects news!

Stunning design! The span of the cantilever is definitely one of the largest I've seen.

Not really a megacity at all but nice projects nonetheless!

London has more like 18 million, Megacities are measured by metropolitan area.

Emporis (Which is often wrong I know) Says 1.2 million city, and 4.8 million metro. I don't think they could be off by that much. Unless they counted the city population form a completely different boundry.

I really like the 400m proposal, The new one kind of reminds me of 7 south dearborn in Chicago. Hope it gets built.
