Ouch. That looks quite horrendous
This kind of 'architecture' should be declared a crime against humanity (unless built in Macau).

FUTIAN STATION BEGINS TRIALS
2015-November-27
Shenzhen Daily

Journalists watch as a train leaves the Futian High-speed Railway Station on Wednesday, when the station was put into a trial run. The station, said to be the largest underground railway station in Asia, now test-runs 13 round-trip trains to Shenzhen North Railway Station daily. It will also serve the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed trains after the rail line is completed. The Futian station, located in Futian CBD, is smaller than New York’s Grand Central Terminal. The station will be officially put into operation by the end of this year.

Architect seeks to combine style and efficiency with a marine theme in One Excellence project

Imagine a long stretch of land with tall buildings lined along two sides. Two towers connected through a canopy front the two rows of buildings, acting as a gateway to the stretch that ends in a promenade. Welcome to One Excellence in Qianhai’s central business centre, now under construction.

It was before Qianhai was making headlines that TFP Farrells, which is designing a part of the centre, had spotted the then-untouched plot at the mouth of the Pearl River Delta. The international architecture studio is now shaping the prime area in the experimental zone for the mainland’s financial reforms.
With eye to major cities, Qianhai digs deep for hub
2 December 2015
China Daily Excerpt

The Qianhai zone's underground development plan to create an 8-square-kilometer underground city recently received approval from a government assessment team. From 2004 to 2012, the cooperation zone labored to complete the massive reclamation project. It has been hailed by the administration authority of Qianhai as a model of how to improve land use efficiency.

According to the plan, about 1.3 square kilometers of underground space will be used for commerce, culture and entertainment while about 6 square kilometers will be used for transportation facilities and underground passages.

Authorities developing the underground plan learned a great deal from the success of international cities, including Chicago, London and Osaka, according to the planning and construction sector of the Qianhai administration authority.

For example, the city's planners studied the Chicago Pedway, a network of tunnels, ground-level concourses and bridges connecting skyscrapers, retail stores, hotels and train stations in Chicago's central business district.

The Pedway takes up about 2 sq km of space and the pedestrian walkways total about 8 km in length and link more than 40 downtown blocks and 50 commercial and government buildings. The system connects seven subway stations and public parking spaces.

Lin Hong, deputy director of the Qianhai administration authority, said the city's underground plan will be green.

"We introduce the latest planning philosophies and construction systems from around the world," he said.

Authorities predict that about 650,000 people will work in Qianhai while 150,000 people will live there by 2020.

They added that there will be a total length of 180 km of roads, 25 of which will be dedicated to walkways.

To facilitate the transportation of commuters, a subway hub for at least five subway routes will be built to connect the cooperation zone with other corners of the city, including the airport, railway stations and checkpoints to Hong Kong.

The idea of Qianhai's underground space is to encourage public transportation and walking so that vehicles and pedestrian walkways are separate, according to the planning and construction sector.

The administration authority of Qianhai has planned a spacious utility tunnel to account for all pipes, lines and cables for electricity, telecommunications, gas, water and other public utilities.

Although tunnels have been used for a century in many Western countries, they are not common in China. When utility services need maintenance, roads in most Chinese cities have to be dug out for repairs and covered like a zipper afterward.

The underground tunnel, which will be about 12 km in length, will be able to allow two jeeps to run through it, according to Qianhai administration authority.

All going to plan in FTZ's newest area
China Daily Excerpt
2015-12-07

Policies in place, infrastructure being built for addition to Guangdong free trade zone

The Qianhai and Shekou area of China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone will be built along with the opening-up of China's financial sector, and into an important service, trade and port base, said Tian Fu, director of the area's administration committee.

The area, which covers 28.2 square kilometers, was officially established on April 27. Located in Shenzhen, China's first special economic zone and one of China's most developed cities with strong economic growth, the Qianhai and Shekou area is designed to explore the further internationalization of the renminbi and financial cooperation with the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions.

In October, Hu Chunhua, Guangdong Party chief, urged Qianhai and Shekou in Shenzhen, Nansha in Guangzhou and Hengqin in Zhuhai, which together form the Guangdong free trade zone, to stick to high standards and high requirements in their planning and construction, and jointly help the Guangdong FTZ stand out among the four national-level free trade zones. The other three are in Shanghai, Tianjin and Fujian.

The construction of the Qianhai and Shekou area sped up in August. Investment in the 10 key construction projects in the zone, which include office buildings, roads and production and logistics bases, totaled 10.92 billion yuan ($1.7 billion) from August to October, accounting for 53 percent of the investment from January to October.

The administration committee of Qianhai and Shekou area has modified its negative list for the entry of foreign trade and investment, Tian said in a meeting in November. The committee, through coordination with relevant government departments n, has formed a reform plan on FTZ policies and rules that proposes 80 reforms of the current institutional framework.

The committee, with the support of the People's Bank of China's branch in Shenzhen, has worked with financial authorities and banks to draft a package of promotional policies to stimulate the modern service sector cooperation among Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao, and the opening-up of the financial sector in the zone, said Tian.

China Daily Excerpt
New concept mall draws the crowds to Qianhai

Shenzhen has taken its first bold step to tackle the problem of mainland shoppers swarming into Hong Kong’s retail facilities, with the opening of the Qianhai Chow Tai Fook Global Goods Shopping Centre, or CTF HOKO — the city’s new concept shopping mall.

The first phase of the project, run by Hong Kong-based property development, hotel and jewelry group Chow Tai Fook Enterprises Ltd, went into full swing on Monday on a trial basis, drawing hordes of customers lured by tempting prices that are comparable to, or even lower than Hong Kong’s, as well as the wide variety of goods on offer.

The phase one of CTF HOKO boasts more than 20 stores, including Chow Tai Fook itself, cosmetics retailer Sa Sa, Maxim’s Cakes, clothes retailer ISA, medicine store Eu Yan Sang and several cross-border e-commerce stores peddling global brands.

According to CTF Executive Director Adrian Cheng Chi-kong, up to 80 percent of the goods available at HOKO stores cost virtually the same as those in Hong Kong, with some even cheaper.

I don't think this is the same project, since there is no lake near the project in your link, but there is one where the project I presented is located. But they both seem to be located in Luohu.
