The poetry written by Andal - Vaaranam Aayiram - has 10 stanzas. It is sung during Vaishnavite marriages during Nalangu ritual. The bride and the groom roll coconuts smeared with turmeric to and fro on a mat. (may be those days, young kids were married and so playing to keep their attention
)

I always wonder, in coming years how could we make future generation even to understand meaning of litterature. Valour is lost in lost generation and Kavya Kadhal we lost in this generation. is it correct Tamil has lost all its relevance in todays world?

There is a poem (by Kalamegam pulavar?) in which he asks (his wife?) for kai ma (handful of flour) but she gets kaima (an elephant), instead. Can someone post that poem? Last edited by Arasu; June 9th, 2012 at 11:39 PM. |

Arasu, couldn't find the one you referred. But found this, this has more reference to elephant..’ (கலங்கி நிற்கிறாள்) Source : http://365paa.wordpress.com/2012/01/08/186/ All these words mean Elephant (Yaanai) Kalabam Maathangam Vezham Pagadu Kamba ma Kaima Kannan sir, please move these discussions to Tamil Lessons thread if you feel appropriate. I guess they are trying to reduce the production artificially to put the pressure on government to increase the rate or they may increase the production after price rise for better price realisation.
Its my opinion, though I cannot prove anythig scientifically Quote:

Rather than external factors India has to manage its fortune internally
All Diesel, Cooking gas, Kerosene and Petrol prices needs to be linked to the international prices, the subsidy for this products should go to developing infrastructure roads, Renewable energy power plants, Hitech manufacturing etc. We should put R&D efforts to see how solar power prices can be reduced to 3-4 rupees /KWH and also the improveing the battery technology (improvments in large capacity storage with smaller sizes so that all households can use this power and also in electric vehicles)That will be permanent full stop to our oil problems. |

Thank you for posting this poem. I was referring to this poem only. I had read this when I was in middle school and it had stayed in my memory. With passage of time, my recollection was vague, and I had mixed up the story and misinterpreted the words. It gave me immense pleasure reading this poem decades later. Thank you again. BTW, how exactly did you search for this poem online? My attempts came to naught.
