Well, actually the CityCenter lot is in the middle of the block between Flamingo and Tropicana. So, they are building a new catawampus intersection by realigning and extending Harmon. Not sure if the Harmon overpass on I-15 will be turned into an actual interchange or not.

Using the photo from VegasTodayAndTomorrow.com you can see the road plan.

This project has gone through several revisions, while I actually liked the first version of the Mandarin Hotel, I'll take this anyday.

These will be Vegas's first world class buildings designed by famous top level architects such as Pelli, and love it.

For a name such as City Center, many people may wonder why the buildings arn't taller then 600 feet, but the FAA (controls heights of buildings due to the nearby airport) has the final word on buildings heights around here.

Cosmopolitan Hotel
Website: www.cosmolv.com

The two white buildings to the right of the Lifestyle Hotel is the $1.5 Billion USD Cosmopolitan Hotel. It isn't a part of Citycenter since it's built by a different developer but for all purposes here, I say it is. It will be finished at around the same time as Citycenter is and the buildings have a similar modern style.

Panorama Towers
Website: www.panoramatowers.com

Also not shown here but directly behind the 2 main CityCenter Towers across the freeway are the Panorama Towers Condo Complex, consisting of around 4 450ft towers.

The bottom line is that with these additonal buildings in addition to CityCenter will create (do not quote this phrase from me!) "a huge conglomeration of cool looking buildings in one place."

Las Vegas is gonna have an amazing skyline when this is done. I couldn't imagine coming out of the desert and seeing a city like this.

Man..while Vegas isn't the type of city I would personally live in unless I was really rich, it's really making strides to becoming a great city. It's the Dubai of the U.S. that's for sure.

Now if only a few 800 foot tall towers were to rise near the Strat.

BTW I previously checked the Foster & Partners' site b4 posting this and nothing on Lifestyle nor aka The Harmon - one of the same.

Also thanks indeed for the PDF site you also posted! Great work all round there mate
The "Lifestyle" name was in the earlier information from the developer (in that pdf) and then later changed to "The Harmon".

You can bet we're workin' on that!

The Ivana Tower would have been a whoopin 923ft tall if it has been built. The site is still zoned for that height so maybe one day.

I know about Ivana. Though I wasn't a fan of it's design. The huge lot is still there. Hm..an thought: Mabye the Stratosphere people will buy the lot and build a 1,100 foot tall hotel/condo called Atmosphere. Makes sense with Sky right down the street.

Actually if you check the Las Vegas thread in the west coast section I talk about the Fontainebleau Tower, which was first proposed to actully exceed 1000ft. It got knocked down to 735ft however. Still, not too bad. But that was on county land (the Strip is as well).

The best chances are definitely on City of Las Vegas land, as our Mayor pretty much approves anything regardless of height but still no one wants to build anything. They're all investors who just zone something for their land and then turn around and sell that land for profit.

Geez, the gambling business is so lucarative that the building upgrade cycle on the strip has been reduced to a quarter century or less. And us stupid gamblers are all paying for it. (That's not to say that I gamble). Nevertheless, this is great for building enthusiasts like me.

Looking good.

Some little tidbits about CityCenter that may be interesting:

*The main resort you see being built above actually does not have an official name yet. "CityCenter" refers to the entire project; the main resort is not named "The CityCenter Hotel/Resort" etc. Hopefully they give it a nice name, but with MGM naming the other buildings such as "VEER" I hope they at least name the centerpiece towers something better.

*CityCenter will have its own fire station.

*Old and New Vegas. With all this expensive modern stuff, you'd think Vegas has forgotten the old days. Not quite. The main show planned for the main resort will in fact be a show called "Elvis," a show featuring songs and inspiration from the King himself of the old days of Vegas.

Google Model

Not to exact scale, just to give an idea of palcement and size.

You don't know how long it took me to make that model...

my pleasure, it was hard making these models for the first time yet it was somehow fun to do so at the same time. I'll try to put in the Vinoly tower and other towers in front of the main resort for later.

In doing this model for the main towers, I have a newfound appreciation for the simplicity, elegance yet complexity of the building design by Pelli. Not bad at all for a world class architect. Curves are the way to go.

Vinoly Tower. This tower is a very tight fit between the main podium of the Cosmopolitan Hotel Tower and the Bellagio Parking garage to the left.

Time for some photo updates.

Model of the Mandarin Oriental.

Starting on the foundation of the Mandarin Oriental.

The shopping mall and Veer will go here.

The west side where the convention facilities will to (I think).

And some more shots of progress on the main tower.
