Las Vegas is North America's Dubai. (Well, on a smaller scale.) It'll get better after the economy heels.

Vegas has been around for a quite a while and has established its reputation whatever that may be depending on who you asked. Dubai is just starting and trying very hard to get noticed. Vegas has been around for a while and is a well established destination with a target market.

Dubai is constructing the tallest building or aiming for the superlative in whatever it wants to create but the bottom line, two different cities each unique on its own. While Dubai wants to be the hub in the Middle East, Vegas is the hub of the WORLD when it comes to entertainment. Even with the downturn in GLOBAL tourism, Vegas is still attracting visitors. The downturn in global economies has affected many destinations in the world and Vegas is one of them but in the long run tourism numbers will rebound once again and Vegas will be ready to welcome these visitors.

I think I need to work for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Bureau. Las Vegas, the Entertainment Capital of the World.

Cool updates. How long do you guys think this City Center will last? Many Las Vegas hotels didn't last more than two or three decades. Some hotels imploded just less than two decades old.

It's just the opposite, dude! Metro Vegas has more than 2 million. Dubai? Hmmm...maybe around 1.5 million. Taller buildings do not make it a larger city...just a mirage...

Vegas is still the destination!

Vegas and dubai shouldnt be compared the way that they are. They are both aiming to be two completely different types of cities. America has many great cities so vegas is one designed to hold all the attractions of a getaway. When it comes to gambling, bettting, and live entertainment vegas is the hub of the world. There dont have a lot of apartments or offices its mainly just hotels and casinos. Dubai doesnt have many cities, so they are creating a capital city. They are also trying to make it the middle east hub which means a lot of offices, apartments, and hotels. There is some gambling going on while the city grows but that is going on because of how fast the real estate market is growing. Eventually the city will be smore built up so that is not dubais future goal. Vegas will be the entertainment hub for a long time to come, and dubai will most likely be the middle easts hub for trade and economics, and if not it is still a major new city for dubai.

Las Vegas has a population of 1.8 mil while Dubai has 2.2 mil so Dubai is bigger.... and the majority of Hotels in Dubai are better than in Las Vegas.
