Erawan adds Pattaya site

The SET-listed Erawan Group has announced an investment of 1.8 billion baht to build a 367-room hotel in Pattaya.

InterContinental Hotels will operate the hotel under its largest brand, Holiday Inn, said Kasama Punyagupta, the president and CEO of the Erawan Group.

He said the company aimed to diversify from five-star deluxe _ its flagship property is the Grand Hyatt Erawan in Bangkok _ to budget hotels in key tourist destinations to tap growing demand for lower-end accommodation.

It plans to build up to 10 economy hotels within three years. It recently invested 1.25 billion baht to secure three sites to develop Ibis budget hotels in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket.

Mr Kasama said that Pattaya was a key strategic destination with high growth potential for both leisure and corporate travel, given its proximity to the new Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Erawan shares closed yesterday on the SET at 4.10 baht, up 0.08 satang, in trade worth 3.03 million baht

นายกษมา บุณยคุปต์ ประธานเจ้าหน้าที่บริหาร บริษัท ดิ เอราวัณ กรุ๊ป จำกัด (มหาชน ) กล่าวว่า ทางเอราวัณได้กำหนดให้พัทยาเป็นที่ตั้งเป้าหมายทางยุทธศาสตร์ในการขยายเครือข่ายโรงแรม จากศักยภาพของพัทยาซึ่งเป็นที่แหล่งท่องเที่ยวทางทะเลที่สำคัญและเป็นเมืองธุรกิจซึ่งป็นศูนย์กลางระหว่างแหล่งอุตสาหกรรมในภาคตะวันออก รวมทั้งท่าเรือน้ำลึกที่มาบตาพุดและศรีราชา การเปิดสนามบินสุวรรณภูมิจะทำให้สามารถเดินทางสู่พัทยาเพียง 1 ชั่วโมงเศษ ซึ่งจะเป็นปัจจัยส่งเสริมที่สำคัญที่ทำให้เมืองพัทยามีศักยภาพในการแข่งขันสูงขึ้นมากเมื่อเทียบกับเมืองท่องเที่ยวและสถานที่จัดประชุมสัมมนาที่สำคัญในเอเชียใต้

ดังนั้นล่าสุดนี้บริษัทฯได้ลงทุนซื้อที่ดินและสร้างโรงแรมฮอลิเดย์ อินน์ ที่พัทยาด้วยเงินลงทุนประมาณ 1,800 ล้านบาท โรงแรมแห่งใหม่นี้จะมีห้องพัก 367 ห้องตั้งบนที่ดินประมาณ 6.5 ไร่ ซึ่งเป็นส่วนหน้าติดถนนเลียบหาดพัทยาจากที่ดินทั้งหมด 20.5 ไร่ ด้านข้างโรงแรมอมารี ออคิด

ทั้งนี้บริษัทฯได้แต่งตั้งให้กลุ่มโรงแรมอินเตอร์คอนติเนนตัล (IHG) เป็นผู้บริหารโรงแรมภายใต้ชื่อ “ฮอลิเดย์ อินน์” โดยมีกำหนดเปิดดำเนินงานปลายปี 2551 การลงทุนสร้างโรงแรมระดับ 4 ดาวที่พัทยานี้เป็นอีกก้าวหนึ่งที่สำคัญซึ่งจะทำให้บริษัทฯบรรลุเป้าหมายการขยายเครือข่ายโรงแรมตามแผนยุทธศาสตร์ที่ได้ประกาศไว้ โดยในปี 2551 บริษัทฯตั้งเป้าหมายที่จะมีโรงแรมไม่น้อยกว่า 12 แห่งให้บริการครอบคลุมทุกกลุ่มลูกค้าตั้งแต่โรงแรมระดับ 6 ดาวลักษณะ Pool villa ถึง โรงแรมชั้นประหยัด กระจายอยู่ในแหล่งธุรกิจและท่องเที่ยวที่สำคัญของประเทศไทย
