first of all, why does everything have to have a point? why would a company spend more money on a more interesting looking building, doest that have a clear point? no not really, apart from esthetic reasons. it looks very cool to build half in the river. furthermore the second reason is that all the ground in that area is either already built on or has plans for construction. as a building on the river banks is very popular there, deloitte doesn't really have another choice.

We're Dutch, and happen to be pretty much the best at water-management, land-reclamation, and any other construction concerning water. Rotterdam is the biggest port of Europe and one of the biggest in the world. This tower will be at a prime location, and since it is being built in the outer side of a turn in the road, it makes sense to partially build it in the water.

This wednesday they'll pump in concrete for the 2 meter thinck foundation, about 160 concrete trucks will arrive during the day from 5 am till about 21 pm! Will be a spectacle! After that they'll go up soon.

Well, they are rising from the foundation now, rising the basement. Hard to say when you can call it rising on this location, it's above waterlevel allready.
