Car was designed by a team that includes Cov Uni graduates.

Nice one! Beautiful Machine. This should get them back on track. Who'd buy a **** ugly BMW 5 series now when you could have an XF?

Who's Chris Bangle?

I must congratulate him. The BMW 5 is one of the ugliest cars on the road!

I'm getting a new car next week!
(sorry totally irrelevant, but I'm excited!)

He's the chief designer (I think) at BMW. He's American and shit.

Oh and I'm getting a new car soon too! We might be getting an Audi A3 but first we've got to make sure the current car that we have is going to make it - the cam belt has gone flying off and all the tensioners have gone missing, it's incredible that car has kept going.

I saw that too. I love old Triumphs and it makes me seethe that they may return under BMW ownership.

I love old Triumphs too, especially the Stag…

Although I don’t care much for BMW ownership of the name, they do have the resources needed to bring it back. If they do a good job and build cars here then I will be happy.

Birmingham adds Bentley's finishing touch

Oct 11 2007

By John Revill, Manufacturing Editor

Bentley's famous Flying-B bonnet ornament is being produced by a Birmingham manufacturer.

Brendan Delaney (right) and business adviser Norman Taylor admire the Flying B bonnet ornament

A commitment to quality and versatility has helped Hi-Finish Casting clinch a deal to make the part which will appear on luxury cars like the Continental, Arnage and Flying Spur.

Hi-Finish Casting deliver high quality zinc and aluminium pressure casting, bright chrome and satin chrome finishing, powder coating, lacquering and assembly from its factory in Hall Green.

And it is that quality that has contributed to Hi-Finish securing a number of prestigious contracts, including the supply of the 'Flying B' assembly for the Bentley grille for the luxury marque's owners, Volkswagen.

Brendan Delaney, commercial and engineering director, believes the versatility Hi-Finish offers adds significant value to the service offered to customers and contributed to securing the Bentley contract.

Hi-Finish deliver high quality zinc and aluminium pressure casting, bright chrome and satin chrome finishing, powder coating, lacquering and assembly from their 70,000 sq ft plant on Cateswell Road.

Mr Delaney said: "This was a relatively new venture for us. We already undertook a number of assemblies for various customers, but it was a major success against significant competition in securing this contract."

First Jaguar XF rolls off the Birmingham production lineNov 26 2007
By Ed Stephens, Birmingham Mail

Quote:
THE first of the new Jaguar XFs - the car that could make or break the motoring giant - rolled off the Castle Bromwich production line this afternoon.

Amid cheers from the workforce the vapour grey executive saloon appeared through a mist of dry ice into a blaze of lights.

In the passenger seat was Michael Quinn, the grandson of Sir William Lyons, the founder of Jaguar.

Richard Else, the plant director, said the launch of the car marked the start of a new era for Jaguar.

Seen a few un-disguised pre produciton ones on the M6 already. Looks awesome in the metal. The one I saw was the SV8 one with the 20" wheels and quad pipes. There really is nothing else like it!

It's great when you see them travel in groups. You see about five of them in a row driving down the High Street like they're transporting the US president .

It oozes quality. All over. May have to have one of these next......

Ford chooses Tata for Jaguar and Land Rover
Dec 19 2007

By John Duckers and John Revill

Indian industrial giant Tata will be named as the preferred bidder for Jaguar and Land Rover on Friday.

The group has had its £1 billion bid accepted by Ford, which is selling the luxury carmakers which together employ 13,000 people across the Midlands.

The firm has beaten off competition from rival Indian firm Mahindra and Mahindra and private equity group One Equity Partners. Final details are expected to be tied up in the next six weeks before the sale is completed.
