Oxford

Oxford, the oldest university in the English speaking world with almost 1000 years of history, famous for its dreaming spires and beautiful architecture.

Here are some pics from a recent visit to the city (following my other trip to cambridge a few days before http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=390141. Having never visited Oxford before, i was assuming it would be like Cambridge, but it is suprisingly a very different city. Oxford has a population of 130,000, compared to cambridges 108,000, and that extra 20,000 really makes a difference. Oxford feels more vibrant, bustling and alive than Cambridge, which IMO felt rather small, quaint and villiagy, with not much going on - thats not to say cambridge isnt a fantastic town in its own right. Oxford also seems to have more large, impressive buildings to gaze at in awe, and the 'background' architecture is just as beatiful, if not more beautiful than Cambridges. So, overall, whilst Cambridge is beautiful, Oxford is more my kinda town

I've always liked Oxford, especially Blackwells book shop! My Mother was born in Oxfordshire and grew up in the village of Bloxham so I'm very much attached to the area.

Thanks for the pictures!

I had forgotten about this one - There's a Cambridge thread burried deep in the vaults somewhere too.

Thanks for the comments
