CLERMONT-FERRAND | Public Transport

Hello everyone,

Whilst searching for something online I came across this...

Simon

PS another monorail bus that also thinks it is a tram! (Why do I call it a bus? - it has rubber tyres and although it wont normally do this it is capable of travel away from its guide rail. The single rail also makes it a type of monorail! At least it is electric.)

PPS, for some images of it under test visit this page

This autumn, but only the 2/3 of the first line with only two vehicles in service, so with 30-minutes headway (no comment). In spring 2007 the depot will be completed and the line enter full service in autumn 2007 (now there is a little depot building that can maintain only 3 vehicles).

Venezia-Mestre and L'Aquila lines under construction (L'Acquila could open the next year).

Thanks Coccodrillo. So its a 'symbolic' opening.

I want to visit Padua to see the Translohr, but will wait.

I also want to visit Turin to see its new Metro and Milan to see the Sirio trams and Cristalis trolleybuses, so would want to stay in Italy for 3-4 days and visit them all at the same time.

You are welcome Greg.

btw, in a way this is a monorail, even if only for guidance & electrical return, and not tractive effort (which comes via the rubber tyred wheels).

Regards

Simon

Venezia-Mestre is due to open in 2009: http://www.tramdimestre.it/

(Venezia is the historic Venice, Mestre is a city on the mainland linked to Venice via a bridge, but they are part of the same municipalityy called "Venezia Mestre")

In Milan there are only 10 Cristalis trolleybus, you can have to wait a lot before finding one. They run excluisively on the circular route 90/91.
