Oh!

Hi WXM, what do you mean they're getting everyone (meaning BT buyers) to refresh their contracts? Please elaborate, if you can? Any details on the contractual differences, e.g. completion date, property value, etc?

Thanks!

Look what I found this afternoon.

Either this is soon to go ahead, or they need more sales before it goes forward.

Either way, it's good to see some action with this property, fingers crossed for this being positive news.

just to confirm that is nearly $420k for a STUDIO. know the views from higher floors to the north will good, and also to the west (with the library there they won't get built out either) but still seems like a lot of kanga. having said that, imho, this tower will be a welcome addition to the east end of town. hope to see some action next year (finally).

Not sure because the top of the page shows 2 bedrooms. If it is $420,000 for a studio it's ludricrously priced, you can get a 2 bed elsewhere for the same money. If these are the prices no wonder it's taken so long to rise out of the ground.

its a 'two bedroom' of 46m2 most 2 bedders are 70m2+

basically its for investors to provide for international students. isn't the worst layout I've ever seen though I have to say.

I could imagine living in it with the second bedroom becoming a study or dining room (if modified to remove the wall.

btw. the developer is offering a 5.5% yield on teh purchase if you want them to organise tenants for you - further enhancing the overseas investor scenario.

I'm in a 1 bedroom unit that's 60m2, i can't possibly imagine how you could get 2 bedrooms in a area of only 46m2.... i imagine the rooms would barely even fit queen beds in them...

Jesus, I'd agree. When I live din Wills Court I had a 1 bed that was 55m2, and that had the entrance hall made into the kitchen... The bedroom was just big enough for a double bed and 2 bedside tables, and the bathroom was tiny.

Dread to think how claustrophobic a 2 bed of 46m2 would feel.

Still, students will take them and overseas investors will see the opportunity. Maybe if they sell a few more the bloody thing will actually get built!

just had a proper look at the link posted by ooh (was being a bit lazy before and just read studio description in the blurb) and, yeah agree that layout is functional enough, but i mean 46 m2, come on - even students are guna struggle in that. guess 5.5% net isn't a bad return, with it being guaranteed and all.

Tried to change the bank for 10% deposit so I contacted Barton. The sales told me "they were requested by the bank to refresh the contract". Not too much details.

Really don't see any chance they can finish within 5 years for such tall building. It's 1.5 years for my contract already. Barton can terminate the contract after 5 years for selling higher price...............

Its still around...from the website:

Thank you:

We would like to express our gratitude for the patience and loyalty shown by all purchasers of Barton Tower apartments. We have been faced with some delays brought about by changing banking conditions though we have been working night and day on a resolution. Thankfully we are nearing the end of the hard work and are preparing to move forward. We will keep you informed of the progress.

In the mean time, please have a happy Easter, we will be in touch.
Faithfully,

The Barton Team
