Very nice!
If that business centre gets made, Thessaloniki will be in a lovely boom.

Thessaloniki is definitely booming. Today's Agelioforos newspaper published parts of a real estate report relating to Thessaloniki. This report mentions all the large projects that are being constructed in Thessaloniki (metro, underwater artery, expansion of the port etc.).

The report was prepared by Danos & Associates and can be downloaded on their website:

I dont think Thessaloniki needs a new train station somewhere else, but it surely needs a total renovation of the existing one. If the existing one is renovated and little expanded, will be one of the best train stations in Southeastern Europe.

I agree, Thessaloniki's train station is very big, but it needs renovation, cause it looks a bit ''old''.

Yes it is beautiful

Its great. Its distinctly Ellas. Let's not mess it up with skyscrapers.

Instead, capitalize on what has historically made Greece stand out as a tourist destination.

While the city hall is needed, and impressive, the land that it is being built on was once occupied by an open wooded area that locals could park in. By destroying that, and not building a large enough parking garage (it can't hold the cars of all the municipal works...), the parking issue will become even more acute.

The train station is fine. It just needs a massive renovation.

That's a really great city hall! Anyone know when it's supposed to be completed?

btw, it looks very big and i guess there will be some places left for Psomiadis to hire the rest of his family
p.s. i'm not making a political statement here, just making fun of the whole political scene!

I really like the interiors ruther than the outside of the building, which I find a little bit conservative and dull. However, this is still a great project.

Ε, ρε τρέλλα

It looks good, I like it with the remark that that this looks like a post-industrial 1990s design. The exterior doesn't have a shape that will allow it to become emblematic. Had it built in 1990-something it would have been an emblematic building for the Balcan region and beyond. Now it looks OK and functional but nothing to be burned into your memory.

On the other hand, I like it to see open spaces inside the building. I wouldn't be surprised of you told me that the architect is Alexandros Tombazis and that the desogn helps the bio-climatic character of the construction in which case, I withdraw all previous statements.

To conclude, the strong point of this building is its interior open spaces and not its exterior. I am sure it will serve well our beautiful Thessaloniki.

The open spaces are done for effect so that when the bureaucrats are yelling at each other inside the louder one's echos will win out.
