Oh wow...this is the first time I've seen such buildings in Madrid. A couple of them are no doubt amongst the best skyscrapers in Europe.

Also, for one reason or another, some of the pictures posted above (those with no snow) make it seem as if the buildings are in Dubai or something. Just the way the buildings are lined up I guess...

Wonderful shot of the Madrid skyline profiling over a glowing reddish dusk light, taken by someone called Ricardo M. and published today in El País:

http://www.elpais.com/yoperiodista/a...02elpyop_5/Ies

Strangely, rather than noticing the beauty of his shot, the author was using it to criticize current pollution levels (attributing the all-natural reddishness of dusk light to pollution). Definitely there is something wrong with many people in Spain when it comes to appreciating skyscrapers. To think that apparently in Seoul there has been a popular campaign to support the project of a world-record hypertall; such a thing would be completely surreal and unthinkable in Madrid where if anything what we experience are loud popular campaigns to prevent the construction of any kind of highrises, even relatively short ones (let alone supertalls). Sadly, the CTBA is merely a once-in-a-generation exception to the de facto ban against skyscrapers in this city.

Having these 4 supertalls really change the skyline in Madrid, is there any chance of any more being built in that area of the city...Madrid could do with a few more tallies like that...otherwise Madrid is a lovely city been there a couple of times myself!

The only chance of seeing more skyscrapers going up there is called Operación Chamartín, an ambitious urban regeneration masterplan for the area around Chamartín station currently covered by a hub of groundlevel railways, but still on hold more than a decade since it was initially envisioned. As of now, because of a shameful series of political feuds and conflicting economic interests (not to mention the popular outcry from the part of neighborhood associations, leftist activists, etc. that will automatically ensue if it ever gets approved, calling the skyscraper-populated masterplan a product of speculation, a capitalist plot to enrich a few, and demanding for any highrises to be replaced with "green areas" and 4-storey lowrises of cheap "officially protected homes" for the worker class, and blah blah), it has a snowball's chance in hell of actually going ahead anytime soon, if ever.

Very good pictures of this towers. Spain actually begins to be one of the most powerful countries in europe.

There are a lot of new videos about CTBA in youtube...

Off topic>>>
