Personally, I think that may even be too much. My favorite lighting scheme is the office lights shining through the windows, letting the building show its true purpose; being a work of art, but also a functioning part of the urban environment. Rather than lighting the whole building and having spotlights shining out of it, I wish they would have something more muted, maybe lighting just the crown and the crease that runs along the side of the building.

Yeah, the crease is enough for most days

Of course that won't be just a regular lighting setup. My understanding is that there would be some sort of lighting mini-show in the late hours of the day or for some special occasions.

Not a fan of the over-the-top tacky colourful lighting. Looks cheesier than Dubai marina. Pearl tower, SWFC and ST need to complement each other in terms of the light colour. Don't like the way the tower looks when the slot that runs up the side is lit up.

I think the normal lighting scheme should be one of the following (IMO some subtle variation/movement variation in the white horizontal arcs of the second photo would look good):

Lighting up! That must be the highest LED screen of the world.

I'm so in love with laser show Shanghai Tower and night lighting fittings, someday I want to see with their own eyes the Shanghai Tower but I am now far away live from Shanghai Tower.

are the exact type of lighting schemes I like. Only way to make it better is to have the top and the crease the same color

Now that we have an idea of what the lighting displays can look like, one thing is clear: Shanghai can save a lot of money on fireworks displays in the future. Just light up the ST like some fireworks and you have a great 4th of July/New Year's/Christmas display.

(I am playing devil's advocate - I would really like to see the light displays be used tastefully with this amazing feat of architecture).

Not a big fan of the over-the-top light effects but that's probably not going to be the regular lighting program anyway. ST is still a masterpiece of supertall architecture and nothing would change that for me I think it has inspired a lot of organic-shaped supertalls in China lately.

I wonder from space at night laser show Shanghai Tower will be visible, because the laser show Shanghai Tower is very, very bright light show ever before.

Pudong at night from space.
