I was quite unaware of the garish light show. I thought they only had stuff like that in Dallas.

This is Pudong Airport, right? I wouldn't think it was possible to see it from there. It's about 30km away. Very clear day I guess!

A bit hazy, but visible. I would imagine you can really see it at night.

No, it's Hongqiao Airport. Hongqiao is much closer to the city than Pudong Airport.

Well you are right. This is Hongqiao. The city is much denser around the airport than it is around Pudong airport. It's still about 15km away so I am quite surprised!

I have one question though. These spotlights and lasers up there... Aren't they dangerous for air traffic because of the 2 airports so nearby? In Belgium it's illegal to point a laser up to the sky because it could blind pilots. You could even get to jail for it! What about the Chinese regulations for this?

In China there is no such law how in Belgium because for example in Hong Kong Wan Chai and Central and Western districts all and all its skyscrapers have long laser light in the sky.

Well, I count the Maglev station as Pudong Airport... since after you get on, it only takes 7 minutes.

It's just a bunch of European tin foil hat conspiracy by politicians who are uninterested by real issues. Clearly, the cockpit of a plane doesn't look down at the ground so there is really no problem.

Very impressive, nice to see the real version - not the photoshopped one!

Also it was nice that they got the SWFC into the show as well.
