Nice updates, everyone!

I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures from the inside. Hopefully the view won't be as obstructed (by the exoskeleton and reflections) as I fear it will be.

We had a beautiful day today in Shanghai, and I had a meeting this afternoon in Pudong, so I had some time to take pics on my way back to Puxi.

Picture through newly planted bamboo forest.

Picture of Street level mall. There are no fences around the building, but you can't go in. It seemed there were a lot of people inside, probably cleaning personnel and VIPs

Office entrance on the other side.

View looking up.

Street level view in front of the mall.

Hi all,

This may have been answered earlier but when is the observation deck expected to open? Am holding off my trip to Shanghai until this badboy opens.

I would say don't go to the observation deck. The SWFC is 150 yuan, this is likely to be the same or more. Whenever I have guests, I take them to the Park Hyatt bar on the 91st floor, the view is about the same, just a little lower but 160 yuan can get you two strong drinks. Sure the drinks are expensive, but your 150 yuan fee for the observation deck gets you nothing. This tower will have a J Hotel which is the luxury brand of JinJiang Hotels, I know a guy working with that hotel, he told me they will have a bar just below the observation deck, so you can go there instead.

BTW, you can do this at the IFC Guangzhou too, there is a bar on the 98th floor of the Four Seasons, but the drinks are insanely expensive. One Long Island Iced Tea is 168 yuan!!!!

Thanks. I make it a point to visit ALL the observation decks...cost never an issue. Great Guangzhou idea though.

I don't think so... The tallest tower smack bang in the middle of China's financial capital is going to be a an unoccupied ghost tower.

The company has also signed agreements for leases with Allianz Insurance Plc and local firm All Bright Law Offices.
But foreign firms are not biting anymore.

The share of foreign tenants in grade-A office buildings in China’s financial center has been steadily declining, falling by about a quarter in the past decade, according to broker CBRE Group Inc. International firms such as Citigroup Inc. and Nike Inc. leased offices in Shanghai as the government outlined a plan to make it a global financial, economic and shipping hub by 2020. Now, a weakening economy, slow progress on yuan convertibility and regulatory obstacles have seen some companies curb their expansion plans.
